As she was pulled into the bushes, Ellana knew no help was coming. She and the other woman were on their own.
As the vines dragged her along Ellana started hearing voices. One of them was definitely the voice of the other woman; the other voice was female, but had a strange accent to it. “I told you that you couldn’t escape me. But you wouldn’t listen, and then you shot me with those blasted darts of yours. I might have let you off easy if you hadn’t shot me, I don’t… appreciate being shot by darts, or anything else for that matter.”
Soon the vines dragged Ellana into a clearing where she saw the other woman being held by the vines by a naga. At the start of this Ellana had been only slightly frightened, now she was truly afraid. “Oh, my vines have ensnared another human female. Welcome.” The naga said, flashing a fanged grin at Ellana. The naga’s scales were as green as the vines she commanded, her eyes with snake-like pupils were the color of emeralds, and her long hair was a lighter green than her scales; Ellana wasn’t sure but she thought she might have seen a faint green tint to the naga’s pale skin.
The vines suddenly jerked Ellana upright, yanking her out of the naga’s way as she slithered closer to the other woman. “And now to deal with you.”
Ellana was forced to watch with horror as the naga unhinged her jaw and plunged the other woman in headfirst. She closed her eyes, but she couldn’t shut out the muffled screams of the doomed woman, or the gulps and satisfied moans from the naga. Only after the noises stop did Ellana open her eyes, only to see that the naga, now with a visible bulge in her snake half, had slithered up to her. “Now then, what shall I do with you?”
