"So like, you're a vampire?" Shaggy asks as the Great Dane, Scooby, climbs out from under the table. Scooby stands on his hind legs and shakes Kari's hand; she laughs.
"Well of course." She grabs a cookie and takes a small bite. I gasp loudly and fall backwards in my chair. The younger girls giggle as Shaggy and Kari come around the table to help me up.
"Like jinkies man. Are you all right?"
"Here," Kari holds her hand out to me, i back up to the wall.
"You got fangs!" She lets her hand fall and her face falls with it.
"Well I've just come of age. they aren't all that intimadating yet." I hear the hurt in her voice but can't seem to apologize. Shaggy puts a quick arm around her shoulders and smiles,
"I think they are big enough. You can't blame a normal kid for reacting to fangs badly." Shaggy gets Kari to smile and she slides out from under his arm.
"I'm sorry Miss Kari, I've never seen them so big before." 'Truth was i hadn't seen any fangs my entire life, weren't these things fairy tales?'
Kari laughs, "It's only a fairy tale if you don't believe. But that won't make creatures of the night go away." A shiver passes through everyone in the room but everyone else seems to ignore it.
The girls finish their cookies and milk. They hug the teachers and head up to bed. "Oh dear, we will have to put you up in Shaggy's room, can't let you with the girls." Miss Grimwood smiles, not knowing that you couldn't pay me to be in a room full of girls; normal or not. Kari chuckles but shakes her head when Shaggy gives her a puzzled look; 'she can read my mind.' I think and she gives me a slight nod.
A sudden wind blows through the room, blowing the candles out and making the room dark. 'was that fear i just saw on Kari's face?'
