"Gary...?" Shelly called meekly as she watched her husband take a peek at the mall outside. "Shelly... I'm sorry I yelled at you, but if we don't leave here soon..." He trailed off as he looked over the grisly scene outside, which looked like something straight out of a horror movie. The fact that it was a cool September afternoon did nothing to lessen the impact of what the doctor saw outside. Underneath the sunlight flowing in from the broken windows overhead were the bodies of those who were unable to escape the horde of undead, along with more blood then Gary had ever seen on any operating table. "H-how is it... out there...?" Shelly asked, afraid of what the answer might be. "Its not pretty, but I don't see anything moving other then the fountain outside. Hell, maybe this whole thing is over..." He replied as he walked back over to his wife. "You really think we can make it...?" Shelly asked as she scooted over a little to offer him room on the couch. "Yeah, it'll be dangerous even if most of those things are dead, but if we're careful I know we'll find help. We might have to go to the next state, but we'll find help." He said as cheerfully as he could while giving Shelly a weak smile. "Alright, dear." She said as she smiled back. "If you think we should leave, I'll trust you." She gave him a kiss and they both prepared to venture into the unknown.
"I'll carry the duffle bag with our remaining supplies, you just worry about staying out of danger." Gary called as he packed wrapped up sandwiches into the bag and grabbed his bat. "Um, Gary... I'll need a weapon, won't I?" Shelly asked as she met him at the entrance of the store. "Yeah, I'm afraid so, hopefully you won't have to use it..." Gary replied as he handed her a golf club that was laying nearby. "Just promise me you will if you have to." He finished as he handed her the club. "I promise." She said regretfully as she nervously wrapped her fingers around the cold metal weapon. "Now..." Gary said as he looked over the wrecked mall. "All we need to do is find a safe way out of this mall and then get the hell out of Bitterwood. Do you remember where we parked our car...?" Shelly nodded. "You've taken me shopping here plenty of times for me to remember where everything is. You could've parked our car on the roof and I would have remembered where it was." She replied as he got her first real look at the mall. "Even... even with all thats happened in the last few days..." Gary nodded and they began walking. "Its good you remember, cause with all the insanity of the last few days I'm surprised that I can still remember I'm a doctor." Gary joked to lighten the mood a bit. "Now, if we're on the third floor whats the quickest way down to where we parked?" Shelly thought for a moment and then replied...
