This choice: The train station  •  Go Back...
Chapter #3

It was good while it lasted...

by: evil dude Author IconMail Icon
Frank Hughes stepped out of the train station for the first time in days and walked out onto the boarding platform. He looked down at the tracks that faded off in the distance behind an endless sea of trees. Frank had been one of the few survivors who had the idea of heading to the secluded Bitterwood train station. All in all, it was a pretty good idea, and he would have gotten away... if only he had arrived a bit sooner. Five days ago he had run screaming up to the very same platform he stood upon now, just in time to see the very last train pull away as soon as he got there. By the time he had made it outside to signal it the train was already too far away to notice him. Worried, but certain that they would return later for more survivors he had stayed at the station. He had plenty of supplies thanks to the gift store and snack bar, a nice clean restroom, and due to the station being located far out in the countryside that surrounded the city, a relatively safe place to stay. Zombies had walked by every now and then, but none bothered trying to get inside. Even if they did, Frank had barricaded the doors and a few of the windows, so he could have probably handled them anyway. He had even found a reliable weapon in the gift shop: A shovel left behind by someone who had boarded the escape train.

Frank waited patiently for his first day here and didn't grow worried when the train didn't show up on the next day... when it didn't show up on day three, four, or five he soon began considering heading out on his own. He sat down on the edge of the platform and looked out over the woods before him. It was beautiful in the morning sun of his fifth day here and provided him with a small bit of comfort. "Looks like... its finally time to head out..." Frank said as he went back inside and picked up his shovel, stuffed some snacks into his backpack, and walked past the covered up corpse of the only zombie that had managed to break inside. It was an old woman who had been part of a group that had passed by. She was the only one to noticed Frank and he dealt with her quite easily, but he took note that the group she had been with was larger then the ones before. He knew if he stayed here it would only be a matter of time before a big group found him... and then he would be in trouble. Frank jumped down onto the train tracks and began following them west as the bright morning sunlight blanketed the city in a brand new day. He took one last look at his home for the past five days and disappeared behind a corner into the trees. He walked for 25 minutes before coming to a road that crossed the tracks. To his left about 40 yards up the road was an abandoned mini-van...

What should he do?
