Sadly, things were just as bad topside as they had been in the subway, as a quick look around had confirmed. There was a massive pile up of vehicles of all types closing off the street that led further south. The other two streets were perhaps even worse then that. Corpses (some of which were still moving) were laying everywhere. Some were hanging out of windows, some were sprawled out across the street, some were barely recognizable as human... and some were walking. Shannon ducked behind a car before any of them saw her and quickly began considering her options. She could easily climb over the pile up to the south, but they would surely see her before she got over it, leaving two roads to choose from. She took a deep breath and raised her head just enough to look down both of the streets. The one that led to the north, and the warehouse district if she remembered correctly, had significantly less undead moving about it. "Looks like I'm heading north..." Shannon said as she checked her gun to make sure it was still fully loaded.
After half an hour of ducking behind cars, trucks, and vans Shannon was finally spotted by a zombiefied old lady who had been out shopping when she had first encountered the zombies. Sadly, it was also her last encounter as she, and everyone in the store with her had been killed, only to awake some time later as monsters. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily she had been blessed with a unique power, she could now spit three types of deadly slime, as Shannon was about to find out. "Ah shit, sorry granny..." Shannon called as she raised her gun to fire. "But I'm not about to-" She was then cut off by a glob of blue slime that knocked the gun from her hand and caused it to become stuck against a nearby mailbox. "What the fuck was that?" Shannon growled as she dodged another blob of slime that connected with the windshield of the car behind her, which caused it to slowly dissolve. "Jesus... they have powers now?!" Shannon yelled angrily as she ran into a nearby store as a few more undead began to notice her presence and move closer. As it turned out, Shannon had run right into the butcher shop of Danny Ferguson, who had been lucky enough to have been out of town on vacation when this had all gone down.
Of course, this was also lucky for Shannon as Danny had been one of the most paranoid men in the whole city, which in turn caused him to load up on emergency supplies. Including guns. Shannon dashed behind the front counter and grabbed the shotgun that was attached to the wall and checked the chamber. Empty. Fortunately, she noticed a box of shells sitting on a shelf before the zombies managed to get in. She finished loading the double-barrel just as the old woman turned Slimer poked her head in the door, looking for a victim. A full face of buckshot put an end to her before she could attack again and Shannon had no problem taking out the small group that had gathered outside. While there she noticed her 9mm handgun laying on the ground with some bits of dried slime flaking off. "Wow..." Shannon said as she picked her weapon back up and put it in her backpack. "So that blue stuff sticks and wears off over time..." She looked back at the car with the melted window and burned hood. "And that red stuff seems acidic... Great. Now they've got superpowers." She complained as she checked to see how many shotgun shells were left. About half a box...
It seems luck was on Shannon's side this time... but will it stay with her as she...
