Kayla stared down at the source of the voice and smiled
"well well well what do we have here??" she said with a giggle as she saw three small fugures, that were clearly not hobbits, standing not to far from her knees, their weapons raised.
She had never seen their kind, but if the depictions told in the stories were true, then these were two humans and a dwarf. The shortest was the dwarf, who had a long red beard and red hair. He carried a big ax as a weapon and all his body was covered in a heavily looking armour. One of the humans was a young man in his late 20's, he had long blond hair "which was extremely rare among her kind" and clothings that seemed to be made for the harsh cold in the far north. The last man, who seemed to be the leader of the group, was a man in his early 30's He had short brown hair, wore a nice dark blue uniform with a symbol in the chest and a long black cape.
Her people never had the need to use weapons, as their size and magical abilities were enough to protect themselves from any attack from the outside world, so it was the first time in her life that Kayla saw them "They must think I am a threat" she thought
"So the legends of my people are true then" whispered the barbarian to the dwarf "Elves really do exist on this part of the world"
The dwarf answered "Apparently so... but I thought they never left their forest realm across the great river"
Kayla was aware that they really were not a threat to her but decided to play just a little
"Such brave little people...aren't you afraid of me??"
The knight answered "I am a knight of the sacred order from the great kingdom of Gondor, and I took an oath to defend the helpless against any threat
Kayka giggled "A knight... even among my people we have heard tales of the brave knights"
"How is that possible" asked with confussion the knight "As far as I know no one has ever entered the woodland realm of your kind"
Kayla laughed and said "The trees, the birds, the wind can talk to us" she explained
"Is that really necesary??" she said as she pointed at the sword the knight held "I thought Knights knew how to treat a lady... if the stories are true, of course, of the gallant knights in the human kingdoms...I know more than a few elven maidens have whispered dreamily as we heard the strange tales of the brave knights". She caressed her long black hair and sat on the ground "I am not here to harm anyone"
The knight seemed doubtful for a moment and the seathed his sword, his two companions fallowed his example but remained alert
"Forgive me my lady" he said as he bowed to her "But one must always be prepared for anything"
Kayla asked "What are the three of you doing here, so far from your homelands"
The dwarf answered "We are on a mission, and were told by a great sorcerer that on this adventure we would need the help of a fourth companion, a hobbit"
