Friends to Some, Predator to Others

by: The Random Author IconMail Icon
Kayva was well known amongst the elves as a friend and guardian, but she had a reputation among humans too. Her reputation among humans was her taste for them. She gathered this taste when a band of humans once caught her. Believing they had her fully secured and that she was a calm, forgiving and companionate being to all one stepped into her forced open mouth to show how brave he was. Outraged that she was being treated like a circus animal, Kayva clamped her mouth closed and swallowed the man. At first Kayva was shocked that she just ate a human, but the taste on her tongue threw that shock over a cliff. Since that day Kayva always saw humans as a yummy treat a bit more than as other thinking beings.

Tonight Kayva was searching to the west of her home. For whatever reason, humans from the west seemed to have a slight spicy taste she enjoyed.
