Kayva was going to let the human go, but she thought Humans do not enter the elven woods to often...When will I get a chance to talk to one of them again
"Not so fast cutie" she said playfully to the human, who stopped and stared with fear at her
Kayva reached out and grabbed the man in her hand, as she brought him to her face, she noticed he was trembling in fear
"Please don't hurt me" he begged
She knew humans feared the elves; even if they were gentle to other creatures, for they were very mysterious and lived in isolation from the younger races, not meddling in the affairs of mortals.
The beauty of those immortal beings was legendary, as was their magic, but all their ancient power and beauty, even if was used on the side of good, made most humans, who still believed in them, to fear them, to see them as powerful magical beings that were closer to the gods than any other creature.
Kayva didn't know that of course, and was only aware that humans feared her kind, not understanding the cause of that fear.
She caressed the trembling man in her hand and said in a gentle voice "Aww, you poor thing. I'm not going to hurt you, I just want to talk to you"
She stared more closely at him, noticing that he had blond hair, which was very rare among her kind. He was also very good looking, perhaps not possessing the elegant beauty all elves had, but a rough savage beauty of one who has lived a hard life, not the life of peace elves had in their woods.
"You are so cute" she said to him
The man, whose name was Tom, didn't understand why she was being nice to him. The land he came from the powerful always oppressed the weak. That was the way of the world, or so he thought. Perhaps she is just toying with me he wondered
