Courtyard Encounter

    by: Bound77 Author IconMail Icon
"Hey, Alan!" Roy called as he made his way across the courtyard with the amulet and shrinking potion in his pockets. Alan, who had been sparring with some training dummy, quickly looked over his shoulder to see Roy approaching. "Are you too busy to chat for a minute or two?" Roy figured he was being a bit awkward, but he felt more inclined to give this shrinking potion a try.

"Master Roy." Alan replied, "Of course not. I should probably take a break here for a bit anyways." Alan placed the lance he was using on a nearby holder before turning back to Roy. "Anyways, what'd you want to talk about?" Roy quickly fished the amulet out of his right pocket.

"Uh, my dad wanted you to have this." Roy replied hastily, "He said you were one of our most promising recruits...thought you'd make the best use of this." Alan took the amulet carefully and examined it closely.

"Thanks but...what exactly is this?" He asked. Alan wasn't exactly the most book smart knight.

"I think he said it was an amulet to boost your strength." Roy lied. After all, he didn't want to give Alan any reason to get suspicious. "But that doesn't mean he thinks you need it. Just...in case you wanted to use it." Roy never was a good liar, but apparently he did well enough.

"Nice!" Alan seemed to beaming with excitement. Without another wood he slipped the amulet over his head and around his neck. "Thanks!"

"Yeah, no problem." Roy replied. His left hand dropped into the pocket next and gripped the shrinking potion firmly. He instantly began contemplating a plan to get Alan to drink it. First things first, he had to get Alan away from the public eye so that half castle wouldn't know that he purposely shrank Alan. "Why don't we head inside? It's pretty warm out here." Alan nodded in agreement.

"Sounds good to me." Immediately, the two began walking towards the knight's quarters. "Say, when's this amulet supposed to kick in? I mean, I don't feel any different."

"Just give it a bit." Roy replied quickly, "It probably needs time to...work its effect."
