She walked past the line of cars, and in through the gate. She spotted the number twenty-four jersey almost right away. Luis' jersey. He was the quarterback, and the best on the team. She walked across the corner of the field, and climbed the bleachers. She wasn't into football, but only watched it, because Luis played in it.
She had come to see if he was still going to Brenda's Diner with her. They had planned it the weekend before, but she just wanted to make sure he still remembered, because it just so happens that every guy has one of those short memory spans.
Luis came over, the coach said something to him, but she didn't catch it. He took off his helmet, and she could see the sweat coming off of him. It made him look kinda hot. Did she just say that? "You're nice and sweaty," She said. He smiled. "You want a hug?" He said with that smile that had captivated girls since the sixth grade. "Don't be gross. Are you still going with me to Brenda's Diner?" She asked. "Of course. Why would I miss the opportunity to spend time with you?" He replied. She was happy he was still coming with her, but down deep, she was extremely excited that he wouldn't miss an opportunity to spend time with her.
