Jane wasn't really the caring type, but she was curious so she decided to go and see what had upset the girl so much.
Jane got up out of her chair, picked up her steak and beer, and went over to the girl's table. As she got closer she heard the girl crying softly, muffled by the food she was shoving into her mouth.
"For someone so upset about a meal, you don't seem too reluctant to eat it once you start," Jane said to the girl sitting opposite her as she placed down her food. Now that she was close, she could see the girl's face was very pretty and as she moved while she ate two pointed ears poked through her long blonde hair. "An elf!" Jane thought "Don't get many of those, let alone chubby ones." The elf was clearly chubby, her face was rounded and, though Jane couldn't see her stomach, her dress looked stressed.
"Please," the elf started through a mouthful of food "The food here... it's only been two days... I was thin like you... But they don't stop," she managed through mouthfuls.
"Yeah right," Jane thought "She isn't fat, but people can't put on that much weight over two days," If the elf was telling the truth and she was as thin as Jane then she must have put on twenty pounds!
"Well leave then," Jane humored.
"I can't," she said, frustrated.
As Jane was contemplating what the girl in front of her was saying, her stomach rumbled and she was suddenly aware of the steak in front of her, "One bite can't hurt..." she muttered, lifting her fork and knife.
