The young woman halted in her walking, poised to determine the source of whatever sound had just come from the jungle's edge. Using one hand to wipe the tears from her face, her feelings of despair and isolation melted away for the moment. Sounds could mean many things, but one of the most hopeful causes for it would be other people, jsut like her. This was why she had hushed to hear, because whoever it was evidently was unwilling to come out just yet.
Sure enough, she heard it again. A noise very similar to what one's body makes when passing through tall grass. A sort of sifting, grass-like one. But even as she peered even deeper into the fauna, she didn't see anything of note. Not even animals were in view, although Tanya suspected they would dweel deeper in the jungle than this. Well, whatever it was, it couldn't be invisible, she thought, taking another step forward to investigate.
Now this time she heard a very different sound. This one was crunch, like when a insect or a leaf was stepped on. And not only that, Tanya soon realized, it had come from something at her feet! Looking down in surprise, she couldn't even believe her eyes. Surely this had to be some kind of island mirage... not what it appeared to be. At her feet were a large group of tiny humans, just like her, only they seemed more of a tribal people at first glance.
As she had just come to put the pieces together and saw this, Tanya recognized that she had stepped on one of the frontmost natives, killing him insantly from the sheer weight of her foot on his body! Stepping back in anguish, she watched the scene unfold. Well, she was no longer alone, that was for sure; but this was a company she would rather not face at the moment. Even an inadverdent murder like this was would be sure to enrage the natives, she figured.
Looking down at the tinies at her feet, this was all but confirmed. From what she could make out, and judging by the tantrum they were throwing by this point, the weren't ahppy about the giantess who has interrupted their hunt. Already she could feel the almost unfeelable pinpricks of spears being tossed at her feet, most of them snapping due to their ineffectiveness. Already they were beginning to close in, as if her foot was a creature itself, apart from the whole body.
