It was the smile that had overtaken him and toppled his better judgement. It seemed so well-meaning and innocent, and he was forced to admit to himself that she hadn't displayed any signs of a violent motive. From where he stood, she was just the latest catch of his fellow, belligerent tribesmen. They were always trying to overcome the next largest or next ferocious beast, and this was no different. Their prey often presented little to no threat, anyway, and that was what Tanya had been trying to convince him of anyway.
His fingers instantly dropped to the sheath of Oric's machete-like blade, which hung from his waist. Yes, this was the right decision. They had no right to keep her here on any account, and she had virtually promised not to harm him after he did this. Wait, what would the others do if they learned he had set the giantess free? Imprison him for treason, or worse. But a new thought crossed his mind -- Tanya would be able to dissuade anyone from trying take him away once she stood to her full height. She already loomed over him in a prone position!
He slid his blade over the ropes a few times strategically, since he knew where they were the weakest, and they eventually frayed enough to snap. After repeating this process for all four of the main supports, he rushed back across the sands to the jungle's edge as Tanya writhed against the remaining constraints, quickly tearing them from their anchor-like supports in a jaw-dropping display.
"I'm free!" she cried out, looking back down at Oric warmly. "Thanks, little guy. Now let's go."
