As the the Keldeo touch Damon's forhead with its glowing horn, Damon felt something change. It was like the pokemon had unlocked something from within him. His body tickled as if it wanted to shift into something else, and Damon allowed it to occur. Suddenly, his features began to change.
A horn, identical to the Keldeo's grew from his head, but just as quickly, his hair lengthened and change to an orange red mane. His skin's coloration shifted to cream just as his face lengthened. His eyebrows grew into dark blue hair like structures nealy as long as his mane. A snap in his back, while not painful, still foced him onto his hands and feet which had already shifted into hooves. The process seemed to finish just as quickly as it began, and Damon stood as a Keldeo identical to the one he had met.
"No Way! I am a Keldeo!" Damon exclaimed. "I look just like you!" A memory, a foreign memory, seemed to rush into his mind. He saw himself prancing along a grassy hill with another colt, his twin. It was rare for pokemon twins to be born, even rarer for their species. But he knew that this other Keldeo standing in front of him was his twin. "Ramon?"
"You know my name?" The other Keldeo, Ramon, questioned. Something sparked in his eyes, as if he too regained a lost memory. "Ramon? It is you!"
The two colts excitedly galloped around in a circle before nuzzling their heads. "Ramon... I cannot believe I had forgotten about you, my brother. How did I forget I was a pokemon!"
Ramon look downward at his hooves. "It is not so hard to believe. I only found out that I was a Keldeo a few days ago, after a pokemon attack seemed to force me to change. I feel ashamed that I did not realize I had a brother either."
"Its not like it is your fault, or that I was any better." Damon smiled, trying to reassure him. "If anyone is to blame, it is whomever turned us into humans." As Damon spoke, he felt that his statement was not quite accurate. The memory from before seemed to replay in his mind.
He and Ramon were running around in the large acres surrounding their family's farm. He heard a familiar bell, and the two of them rushed back home. Their mother, a woman with auburn hair, happily called them by name, "Damon... Ramon... Dinner time".
Just before reaching the stairs of the porch, they shifted back to their human forms, a pair of identical twin brothers. They had the rare gift of being able so shapeshift, made even rarer by the fact that they were twins. The young Damon and Ramon, now human, called back, "We're back mommy!" As they approached the door, the young brothers glanced at each other with matching devious grins. They high-fived, and in a flash, one body remained with both of them sharing it. They had made themselves conjoined twins. As they went inside, they seemed to prepare for dinner, following a routine of washing their hands.
The young Damon and Ramon walked towards the dinner table, but just before, Damon stepped behind the wall so that only Ramon, and his half of their body, was in view. Their mother lifted her eyes from the table, having just set down three plates at the table. She glanced at the one twin she could see. "Ramon, now come on over for supper. And where is your brother?"
"Right here mommy." Young Damon called before he and Ramon stepped out completely from behind the wall.
Their mother's eyebrows rose in shock for a moment before she recovered. "Now boys, how many times have I told you..."
"We were careful mommy." Ramon spoke as they approached the table to sit at the nearest plate. "We only just did it as we walked inside."
"Yes, but you must have spent all afternoon as Keldeos. Your shapeshifting, while impressive, does have limits. What if I had a guest or a neighbor in the house?" their mother looked sternly at them.
"Sorry mommy." They both apologized. Damon continued, "We just wanted to have some fun, maybe prank you..."
She then sighed, "Your father was just like that. Always enjoying shifting and playing pranks." Her frown turned into a smile, clearly she was unable to remain angry at them for long. "Well in any case, it looks like I brought out one too many plates."
"We'll still use two plates. I don't want his food touching mine." Ramon said as he reached across the table for the second plate. However before he could touch it, the plate hovered out of reach and into their mother's open hand.
"Now, now my two beautiful boys." Their mother winked. "Boys that stick together, eat together. One plate per body at the table."
"Mom!" Damon and Ramon complained. Each boy grabbed onto the table, and closed their eyes in concentration. They each seemed to try pulling in opposite directions, but their joint body remained unchanged. It seemed like whatever power they had called upon needed time to recharge. Begrudgingly, the two young boys ate their dinner from the same plate.
The memory faded, and Damon found himself staring at Ramon. "We're twins..."
"Shapeshifting twins..." Ramon spoke, seemingly having the same flashback.
