After holding your head, with you looking back at your body for a moment, you see that there’s no blood gore visible on your neck stump, just a patch of strange, smooth uniform skin. You touch your your head’s neck stump, and find that it’s got the same smooth skin, but it feels sticky… but the patch on your neck doesn’t? Huh… you’ve got a hunch on what’s going on, so you take your head and turn it around and do your best to put it back on your neck… you’ve got a gut feeling it will reattach.
It takes a moment to get it just right, and even then it would seem your aim is off by a bit, because when your head touches your neck stump it not only reattaches, but some force seems to nudge it into the proper position, looks like you were right!
You roll your neck and earn a few pops, and then try to yank your head back off again, but it would seem it’s firmly attached once more. Shrugging you hoist the blade once more.
“Well that was freaky…” your sister mumbles. “But I guess I see how it saved the guy’s life, must have gotten up after everyone left and grabbed his head and plonked it back on.”
“Yeah, smart idea… so is it just the blade or do you have to drop it?” You ask and poke at it with your pinky once the blade is reset. You poke a little too though hard as the edge cuts into you and makes you jerk back! However a glance is all it takes to show that the blade didn’t actually hurt you, no blood, just a strange cut splitting your finger tip open with smooth skin on the insides. You squeeze it and the cut disappears.
“Huh looks like it’s just the blade… is it enchanted or made of some weird metal?” Your sister asks, looking closely at it, but at the same time keeping her distance… she grabs a screwdriver and taps the side of the blade and then against the wrench siting in the same tool box she got the screwdriver from… sounds just like metal on metal.
You wiggle your pinky, then press your right hand up against the blade, with it in between your ring finger and said pinky, then push up, plop! Off comes your finger and a part of your hand without any pain, and you’re still able to move it.
Your sister picks it up off the floor and looks closely at it. “Creepy… I wonder what would happen if I…” she trails off as she presses it to the side of her same hand. The part of your hand feels funky for a split second, then gone!
You gasp at the loss of sensation and watch as your pinky flexes of its own accord on your sister’s hand… no, not it’s accord you realize, her’s!
“Wow I can feel and move your pinky!”
“Great, I can’t… mind taking it off?” You ask as your cross your arms in annoyance.
“Wha- hey you took it off!” She defends herself.
“Yeah but not so you could steal it… also do you really wanna go though life with a guys extra finger on one hand?”
“Err… not really… crap I’m gonna have to do it myself aren’t I?” She asks.
You just nod your head slowly. “You sure are… relax it doesn’t hurt, just feels a bit funky, like a really cold chill at worst.” You explain.
She takes a deep breath and lets it out, before repeating your actions and slicing her extra digit off. When she holds her hand up, it looks like your finger was never attached t in the first place… and when you reattach it, the same could be said of your hand, which looks much the same it did before.
“You’re right that didn’t hurt… still freaky though.” She says, then leans back against the wall.
“What?” You ask.
“Nothing, just wanna see what you do next with it.” She says with a shrug.
You consider the machine and decide:
