Cassie received strange looks from the people on the bus, who heard noises from her purse. She knew that the best way for her to handle this situation would be to continue as if nothing was different. And if she was asked, well, she was sure she could think of uses for them! No one asked, but the looks of inquiry continued.
5 stops later, Cassie was at work. Running up to the front door, and able to slow her pace once in, she took the elevator to her floor. Somebody was in the elevator, one of her bosses, Mr. Leoture and he looked as if he was about to ask her a question. Cassie prepared for the worst!
"I have a complaint!"
"You do? But I arrived on time!"
"No, no, it's your high heels!"
Cassie breathed a sigh of relief. "What about them?"
"What do you have in the heels? Speakers? They're so loud!"
Cassie knew this was one of her bosses, so she couldn't laugh, but she permitted herself a smile. When she realized Mr. Leoture had no personal interest in smiling at his ridiculous criticism, she quickly stopped smiling.
"... Anyway, I wanted your quarterly fiscal report last Monday! Today's Thursday! If you don't have it in to me by the time I go home tomorrow, you're FIRED!"
Cassie's eyes narrowed. Would anyone really notice Mr. Leoture's absence? She didn't know much about his personal life, but she knew that at work, everyone hated him! Hmm...
But she would get to finishing her fiscal report, not for Mr. Leoture, but for the managing partners! She had only seen them once, but she got a nicer vibe from them.
Exiting the elevator, she went to her office; the second last door on the side facing the out. She had a window office! That was nice!
Turning on her computer, she opened the fiscal report...
And so the hours passed until lunch hour. Cassie remembered the idiot she shrank this morning. Should she eat him with her lunch, or wait until tonight so Rocky can help her make a decision?
