You step into the room, expecting to see yet another old, leering suitor who is openly interested in you only for your status and power. Instead you see no one. You turn to your father and ask why he summoned you.
"I want you to meet your new suitor," he pauses. "Er...he will be here momentarily. He said he had to excuse himself for a moment."
A few moments of complete silence pass, and the atmosphere grows stifling. You have grown distant from your father. The two of you hardly ever speak anymore, unless it is the king telling you that you're not acting your part in the scheme of things.
A moment later, the door flies open. A servant girl with dark red hair, and clad in a brown cloak bows before the king. You think you recognize the girl, but you soon dismiss the thought when a man in his late teen years enters the room. He is of medium height, and has black hair, and piercing gray eyes. Wow...a suitor who's actually attractive!
He glances at you, and bows low before the king. The king smiles. "Lida, this is Prince Lucas from the kingdom of...er...," he glances at Lucas. "What kingdom did you say you were from?"
"Uh..." Lucas seems to be at a loss for words. He forgot his story for a second! The words jump out of his mouth suddenly, "I'm from the exalted...uh...kingdom of...uh...Teronias."
The king doesn't seem to notice Lucas's faltering. "Teronias?" the king asks, "I've never heard of that kingdom, but I'm sure it will be a nice place for my lovely daughter to live."
The king is completely fooled. You, however, aren't. Something is strange about this "Prince," and you smell adventure. You return Lucas's smile. I'm going to find out who you really are, you promise him silently.
You and Lucas leave the room together, heading for the court yards to get to talk and get to know each other. The servant girl is following close behind.
