"I...I..."
"W-what's wrong, Hinata? Something gettin' you down?"
It was a calm, cool, cloudless afternoon. Hinata had been offered a meal at the Ichiraku Ramen Shop by Naruto. Ever since they were young, Hinata had always had a crush on him, but couldn't explain to herself why her passion for him kept growing stronger every time she laid eyes on him. And nearly every time they bumped into each other, she would become quiet, shy, and lost for words. Her face would turn red in slight embarrassment, almost too scared to even speak. Over time, though, she had become braver and more open, which, to her, is a big improvement in her personality.
Today, however, was a little different. Earlier on in the week, she had been attacked and abducted by a rogue ninja, completely without warning. She was fortunate, though, because Jaraiya, one of three legendary sannin, had very quickly caught wind of it. Naruto was then informed, who soon after took off on the rescue mission. Since he had been out for the past three years training with Jaraiya, he knew that he was ready to yet again put his life on the line for a comrade.
Since the rescue was a success, Hinata wanted to pay him back in some way. Sadly, she was unable to think of anything; she was having difficulty looking into his eyes, ears reddening. She was, thankfully, able to bring up some words describing how she feels about him.
"Naruto... I... wanted to thank you... for saving me... from that ninja." These words were difficult to get out.
"Hey, don't sweat it." he replied. "It was nothing, really. The guy barely stood a chance!"
Hinata knew this to be a brag: In truth, the kidnapper held up well against the orange ninja.
She didn't really mind, though. All she cared about was rewarding the one guy that really cared about her. She blushed again, her mind focused strongly on him. She swallowed another spoonful of ramen, the noodles warming her as they slithered down her throat into her stomach. The flavor that hit her was, oh, so divine. She turned to look at him. and again felt a warm feeling. She wanted to be with him for the rest of her life; for the rest of both their lives. What really got her down was the fact that neither of her parents would allow it until she was of age.
After the meal, Naruto tipped the owner, thanked him for the ramen (as usual), and told Hinata that he would escort her home.
"Why would you... want to do that?" she asked him, a slightly unnerving look appearing on her face.
"Well, ya' never know: There might be other kidnappers out there." Naruto told her in his calmest voice. "Besides, I don't want anything bad happening to you. No one does. Got to keep a sharp mind."
Hinata flushed with emotion. Hearing her crush say something like this always made her happy... the happiest she ever felt. ![](https://images.Writing.Com/imgs/writing.com/writers/info/interactive-1.png) indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
