You swallow because she is both stunning physically, but also you know her reputation, and her mental powers... gasping, feeling a pressure in your mind, she was already using them on you!
She smiles warmly, which sets you are ease...or did she use her telepathy to set you at ease? She then laughs "Some of both to be honest, sorry, but if my powers can help students' first day be a little easier, then by all means, I am going to use it for such an end. Welcome, and I gather you are one of the types of students shunned by your family.." you go to object but she raises her hands "I didn't pry: the way the car that dropped you off tore out of here told me all I need to know. New students come in three basic formats: loving family who know this is the best place for them and their gifts. Those parents come in, meet the staff, see to helping the students get settled. Next comes the wards, students dropped off by the authorities either because they are on the run from home, or had some incident with their powers that necessitated a different placement. Those students are scared of their powers, struggle to use them. Which puts you in the last group: powered but rejected by your family, having to hide your abilities even though they are part of you. Dropped off on your own, car tearing out the gates, but once inside, using your powers as if a weight was dropped from you. Again, it's not me prying, it's me knowing my students, and hoping you can be at ease knowing a lot of the kids here shared some of your experiences"
The way she laid it all out, it did put you are ease and you sit down on the bed, and sigh. But then you blink, as you realize there is only one bed in the room. "Oh, I thought I would have a roommate" Emma smiles "We tend to wait for new students that have metamorphic powers to get settled and decide who they want to be, before assigning one. And based on your file, I gather your powers allow a wide range of transformations, including gender. If your parents were bigoted against you being a mutant, their hatred likely didn't stop there, so if you had questions about your sexuality, please feel free to express them as you like here... in terms of who you are at least" she smiles and watches, maybe a bit expectantly:
