Growing closer as a family

"I have an idea," Michelle says, looking from Robbie to Lilly and then down to the pile of clothes in front of her.

"Really?" Lilly says.

Michelle grins. "Yeah. Give me a couple minutes." She grabs a bundle of some floral print and the medallion and walks out of the room, leaving the twins to stare at each other in perplexity.

When their mother returns, she is wearing the medallion around her neck and what appears to be a tent...a tent covered with flowers. Otherwise she looks exactly the same as she had when she left.

The twins stand up and regard her. She looks radiantly happy.

"I last wore this when I was pregnant with the two of you. You have no idea how happy you've made me." She spreads her arms and sweeps forward, embracing them in a hug. "I love you both so very much."

"Uh mom?" asks Robbie. "What are you doing?" Lilly asks, continuing the thought.

"I want us to be so close," their mother murmurs as the teens' clothing sags and drops empty to the floor next to her.

The room is very quiet as she shrugs off her old flower-print maternity dress and looks to see her 29-year-old self in the mirror, stroking her massively swollen belly, once again nine months pregnant with now unborn twins.

She feels one of them kick and wonders if it is Lilly or Robbie.

"So close" she whispers, a contented smile on her face.
