This choice: Two Lillys for the price of one • Go Back...Chapter #9Two Lilly's for the price of one. by: Aurthor Robbie was dreaming of a flowing river, something a small part of his mind recognized the symbolism of and woke him up in time to make it to the toilet. The bright light f the bathroom hurt his eyes, and the blackness when he turned them off seemed even darker. Not waiting for his eyes to adjust Robby made his way back to the bed he was currently sharing with his sister.
On the way back to bed he tripped over Lilly’s suitcase in the darkness.
It was unfair that Mom always complained about how messy he was, he grumbled to himself, yet when Lilly left stuff lying around she never got reprimanded. Kicking the offending suitcase to the side, he noticed several of the nightgowns Lilly had packed were still spilled on the floor where Lilly had left them. She sure packed a lot of them, Robbie thought as a mischievous idea entered his mind.
Michelle was rudely awaken by the trill of two girls screaming. To her astonishment there were two Lilly’s sitting on the twin bed beside her, yelling at each other.
“What’s going on?” Michelle demanded, blinking sleepily at the two identical girls.
Both girls pointed at each other, “Robby’s wearing my body!” They both said simultaneously.
“It’s way too early for this!” Michelle mumbled as she got up and added water to the hotel coffee pot.
“But he’s pretending to be me!” one protested, her hands firmly on her hips.
“Yeah. Make him stop.” The other added, her pose identical.
As the girls fussed and argued Michelle shook her head, wondering how long the coffee was going to take. It was obvious that Robby had used the medallion to change himself into his sister during the night. What wasn’t obvious was which one of the two girls in front of her was the real Lilly, and which one was the fake.
Finally the noise got to her and she snapped.
“Be quiet, both of you. Other people are still trying to sleep.” Michelle glared at them. The two looked at each other as if it hadn’t occurred to them that other people could hear them, which it probably hadn’t.
“But Mooom…” the Lilly on the left started to say.
“NOT ANOTHER WORD!” Michelle said firmly. I’m taking this coffee into the bathroom, and when I come out we’ll settle this.
“But Mooom…” Lilly on the right started in an identical tone to her clone.
“I’m serious. If I hear so much as a peep out of either of you I’m turning you both over my knee and paddling you just like I did when you were really six.”
The threat in her voice had the desired effect. Both girls’ eyes grew wide and they gulped in fear, no doubt remembering the times when their younger selves hadn’t listened and pushed their mother too far. While it hadn’t happened more than a couple of times, the remembered pain and humiliation of having their bottoms tanned was enough to silence the pair of them. The resulting quiet followed Michelle into the bathroom.
Half an hour later, the coffee and a shower having done wonders for her mood, Michelle felt ready to tackle the problem. Surprisingly, when she emerged both girls were sitting quietly on the bed, colouring the same page in a book they had laid out between them. The sight of them studiously bent over the book and cooperatively swapping crayons made her heart lurch a little. She hadn't seen the two of them colouring together in years.
As much as she hated to interrupt them, they really needed to get their day started.
“Come on girls, time to get cleaned up.”
“First.” Both girls yelled, jumping off the bed and dashing towards the bathroom.
“No way, I get the shower first.” The one trailing whined.
“Nu-uh. I called it.”
“I called it first.”
“Did not.”
“Did too.”
“Not.”
“Too”
“Mommmm!”
Michelle sighed, then followed the two back into the bathroom.
“There’s room for both of you in the shower.” She pointed out as the two girls stood glowering at each other.
“Eeewww.” Lily on the left said, making a disgusted face. “No way! I’m not showering with him.”
“Yeah,” the other countered with an equally disgusted look. “He’s a boy.”
“For your information,” Michelle said, once again feeling the edges of her patience fraying. “You both used to bath together when you were little. And,” she pointed out “In case you didn’t notice, neither of you are boys at the moment.”
Grudgingly, both girls got into the shower, but that didn’t stop them trading jibes at each other.
“I’ll bet you still wish you had that short boy hair now, don’t you.” One of them said as they stood lathered up with suds streaming down their faces.
“You wish. At least you don’t have that funny pee-pee dangling between your legs.”
“You mean, your legs.”
“I mean, your legs.”
Eventually, Michelle got the two of them clean and dried off, then they all trudged back into the room and started pulling clothes out of the suitcase.
“I’d guess you’d better change Robbie back before we get dressed, the closer of the two Lilly’s commented as she pulled a pair of cute panties out of a suitcase and tossing them on the bed.
“Yeah,” the other said, pulling a pair of Batman Underoos out of another bag and tossing them down beside the panties.
“Hopefully you can guess who is the real Robby.” The pair looked at each other and giggled.
“Nice try Robbie,” Michelle said to Lilly. She’d caught the look of shared conspiracy the two had passed. This may have started out as Robby’s prank, but now they were both in on it.
“I checked on you both around three this morning,” Michelle continued. “Robby was still himself, which means you must have used the medallion sometime after that. So it won’t recharge for you until sometime late this afternoon.”
“Or, it won’t work on you,” Michelle said, turning to the other Lilly who was sticking her tongue out at her sister. “Since I don’t know which of you is the real Lilly anyway, I can just try turning you both into Robby. Either way that would tell me who the real Lilly and Robby are. But why bother with that when I can just have two twin girls for the day.”
“But you can’t have two girls.” The first Lilly protested. “Our tickets…”
“Only say one adult and two children under the age of 12.” Michelle interrupted. “Nothing about the gender of any of them. And actually, having both of you as girls is a good idea. We can all use the same change rooms and I don’t have to worry about Robbie wandering off.”
“Guess I get to stay a girl after all.” Lilly #1 said, sticking her tongue out at her sister. Lilly #2 immediately copied the expression, causing them both to burst into giggles.
“Now,” Michelle said, holding up two colours of hair ribbons. “Which one of you gets to be called Lilly today?”
“Me!” both girls chorused. “Me, me, me.”
Michelle sighed. Of course it wasn’t going to be that easy. Fortunately she had a back-up plan. Pulling her lucky half dollar out of her purse, she flipped it.
