A small cry of the rooster signals the days beginning. The village of Ordan, always quite lively for one with such a small population. It's exports are needed throughout the country and as such it is busy year round. One cannot find better crops or livestock in all of Hyrule.
At the edge of the village stood a two story abode of an almost regal nature in comparison to the rest of the town. Standing nearly as high as the largest treetop. Though upon closer inspection one could mistake it as a small archery range with multiple targets set up around the area.
"Link! Hey Link, come on get up already. Fado has been calling you for about 15 minutes now, I think he is getting impatient."
"Let him wait Tumolt, He always wants to get there a half hour early. It only takes about 2 minutes to get those things in the pen anyway."
Link was a fairly tall young man with blond hair and bright blue eyes. He wore simple farming attire with a ragged tunic and a single earring on his left ear. Tumolt had a larger build than Link with a darker hue of hair and eyes of the same color, though they both were about the same height, Link coming off about an inch taller.
"I'll see you out then. I gotta head off into the forest for some more lumber. Pergie and Jaggle are looking to get an addition onto their home pretty soon so we need a few extra loads."
"Alright then lets go."
Link worked as the villages herder. No one could herd quite as well as he could and not only that, the best horse in the Village, Epona, would only allow Link to ride. Tumolt worked as a lumberjack, supplying the town with firewood on a daily basis and lumber whenever the rare addition to the town was built.
"Don't forget we have practice with Rusl after the days work."
"Yeah yeah, always looking forward to hacking away with that axe of yours. Your the only person I know who turned their profession into their hobby."
"Hey I resent that. Chopping and fighting are two different things. Besides, it's not like you enjoy it any less. You have me forty-five matches to your ninety."
"Yeah well if you would use a shield like I do you might be able to block a few of those shots I get in."
"Oh, don't worry about that. Rusl said once he finishes the gift to the royal family he will make us both some custom weopons. Including a larger blade for my axe so I wont need a shield that you seem to covet."
"Whatever suits you I guess. Wont help much though."
"Yeah yeah mister high and mighty sword master. You beat Rusl once and you never shut up about it. Ha ha."
The two were found at the mayor, Bo's, doorstep when they were just infants. Twins, he guessed, for they came with no note. The only evidence that they did not float down were the footsteps in the mud already being washed away on the rainy day. The entire village took their part in taking care of the new arrivals from that point on and have welcomed them as part of each of their family's.
"Good morning you two, how are you this morning?"
"Oh, um... hi Ilia, Were uh... doing great!"
"Bye the Goddesses, When are you going to stop the stuttering Tumolt, we've known her forever. Fine by the way Ilia."
"Heh heh, alright then I'll let you two go off to work. See you later."
Ilia, the mayor's daughter, was very close with the two orphans. Her mother died when she was three and the two orphans helped get both her and her father through the loss.
And such was the days of Ordon village. Very routine living with little change. Change, however, is a necessary fact of life and the remnents of a thousand year old calling will begin anew. | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
