"...Spreading myself to my co-workers."

Cassie thought about who she should spread her control to next. Three obvious candidates sprang to mind.

One was Jimmy Carlson, her best friend. She knew it would take some time for her to get used to controlling two bodies, and Jimmy was someone she spent a lot of time with anyway, so it wouldn't look odd if they were seen together a lot. Plus, he was the one who had sent the virus to her, so there would be a certain poetic justice to it if he were her first "victim".

The second was Philip Hayes, who maintained the company's computer systems. It would be useful to have free, unquestioned access to the computer network. The negative was that she didn't spend a lot of time with Philip - no one did, he was a bit anti-social - so that if the two of them were seen together frequently, it might draw attention that she didn't want while her plans were still in their early stages.

The third was Jessica Bellucci. She was the company's star computer analyst. Jessica was extremely intelligent, so it would be useful to have control of her intellect. Also, since she knew Cassie well, she might be more likely to notice that something had changed about her. It might be best to have her "on the team" quickly. Since she was also a friend, no one would take note if they spent time together.

Of course, there were other people she could "assimilate" as well. She thought it over, and decided to go after....
