Ruto climbed the stairs of the Temple of Time, walking toward the Master Sword chamber and hoping to be able to lift the sword and gain entrance to Ganon's fortress. "I hope Link hasn't taken the sword out for a spin today..."
She stepped up on the platform and, lo and behold, the Master Sword was inside it's pedestal, gleaming in the evening light. The zora pulled it out with both of her hands (her small size didn't help much either) and the atmosphere of the area changed a great deal. The sky was dark, the walls were crumbled, and the very pedestal the Master Sword was just in was in ruins.

She managed to arrive at the volcanic pit that holds Ganon's fortress and cross the rainbow bridge to the front door. As she neared the large gate, she noticed a note on the ground. It was a map, and there was a key attached to it. "T... to... ummm... what's that word... well never mind. It has to lead somewhere."
She looked at the map, seeing what resembled the castle. There were arrows here and there indicating a path. "Follow the trail..." the princess paced her way into the fortress, taking the paths described to avoid all traps, and ended up in a large room made of gold, containing an iron ladder that lead several stories into the air. The brilliant shining walls were enough to make the girl blink because of the pain.
"What fool has come to my fortress to attempt to overthrow my all-mighty rule?" said a great deep voice, which was technically just making a monologue (Ruto couldn't understand a word it said)
"Hello? Will you say that again? I didn't hear you!" she squeaked in the drowned, echoing voice of a zora.
"Oh for goodness sake, it's just a kid?" A gerudo man peeked down from the top of the ladder. "Listen, little girl, this is no place for kids. I'm waiting for a very important meeting and it's going to be very disastrous, so if you could please leave--"
"Who are you going to see? What will your company be, I mean to say?"
"I-It's Link, now could you just go away?"
"Why is he coming over to your fortress? Huh?"
Ganon sighed at the ridiculous child, "Link and I are having serious disputes, so he's coming over to destroy me. Now go away!"
