Thinking quickly, you reach for any surviving storage within the cockpit. Survival gear is a must in situations like these. You only have time to grab three things before the situation turns:
-A Handheld Plasma Cutter
-A Bundle of Rations
-A Signal Flare
The ship lets out a concerning groan as it careens into another section of uniform pipe; the headlights go out, plunging you into darkness. With a deep breath, you free yourself from your seat and begin carving a hole into the now defunct door. The ship creaks and groans and compacts with each passing second.. and for but a moment you fear you are too late.
Dim plasma-light spills from your exit point and you follow soon after, ignoring the heat as you look down... just in time to see your ship collapse entirely.. letting out a resounding shriek as it's time arrives.
Hopefully command won't be too upset by this.
Calling on all the parts of swim-training you cared to remember, you pull away from the wreckage; all this effort would go to waste if it slammed into you now. Your suit's spotlight dances about erratically, and you have just enough time to angle yourself to avoid impact with another bend.
From there military instinct takes over, and you find yourself in a rapids-navigating trance of sorts. You weave this way and that, curving round illogical turns and dizzying spirals in a display that would bring a tear to the founding fathers' eyes.
Right up until the flow starts to slow.. and light spills in from monumental grating above. Struggling to adjust to sight again, you notice the path splits.. granting but a few moments to choose before the current does for you. Praying to whatever god will listen in this far-off system, you make the plunge.. and although you do not know it yet, you spill out into..
