Chapter #2

Amy is at work

    by: sharpedge Author IconMail Icon
Amy had recently started a new job, straight out of college. Young, bright and pretty, she had a good future ahead of her and she was determined to make the most of it. Her new job was working in a commercial sector of a well-known high street bank. As a new starter, she wasn't very high up the ranks, but she knew she could use her looks and her brain to move up quickly.

Working in the commercial sector of the bank meant she met a lot of people who were considered very important customers, people who the bank would not want to risk losing.

Amy was sitting at her desk and being eager to learn, she was watching the manager, Ms. Hawthorne, talk to, and attempt to convince several prospective business customers to join. According to Ms. Hawthorne, failure with these particular customers was not an option.

As she mused over this, she noticed a tiny figure moving around by the leg of her desk. She knew what it was, they had been suffering from an infestation of these tiny men for almost a month. This presented two problems: an infestation like this looks unprofessional, unclean, and could lose customers. The other problem is that it's technically illegal to kill them, so getting rid of the infestation was taking time, as they had to be relocated rather than killed... well that's the official version. In reality, Amy knew that whenever officials and customers weren't looking, any and all steps were being taken by the bank to remove the tiny guys, even if that meant killing them. As long as no one found out, no one would care.

Amy had to ensure these important customers now being shown around the office did not see any signs of the infestation. Quickly looking around to be sure no one was watching, she moved her leather ballet-flat clad foot until its shadow engulfed the tiny man. He looked up as this happened, but it was too late. Amy got a glance at the terrified look on his face. He seemed to have been trying to pick up a morsel of food the cleaners must have missed. Then he disappeared from sight beneath her foot. Without putting a lot of pressure on him, Amy dragged her foot back to roll the tiny man towards her. Now sitting back in her normal pose, she left her foot resting on him.

The business-style black ballet flats she was currently wearing were chosen more for style rather than comfort. They were the only ones she could find that actually looked good enough with her outfit. Unfortunately, they weren't very good quality, and she knew this. The sole was so thin it felt like she was walking barefoot everywhere, she could feel everything on the ground underfoot, and right now she could feel every movement and squirm the unfortunate tiny man beneath them was making.

She still didn't put much pressure on him, it wasn't because she cared about him, he was most likely suffocating with her foot firmly pressed on top of him and that didn't bother her. It was because of the awful mess and noise they made when they were stepped on. Doing it here would leave a big stain on the carpet, and the crunching and screaming would attract the attention of the customers.
