This choice: Morgana is no where to be found • Go Back...Chapter #33Missing Morgana by: Unknown Milagro Beanfield Warehouse is mostly empty when you saunter to the till and order your coffee, a double espresso and a panini. The person behind the till, a forty-something man of Italian descent nods his approval of your choice and punches some numbers to the register. Money changes hands and as usual, you make your way to Kim's usual spot, a rather secluded corner she often uses to read her books.
You delve into Kim's memories about the place as you wait for your order. Milagro isn't as popular as The Koffee Kauldron, a much abuzz and youthful looking place, complete with more contemporary coffee drinks nor Crystal Cave with its individual booths and fancy concoctions, but then again, people don't go to Crystal Cave for the coffee. Milagro is never empty though, the warm and inviting earthy brown colour of its interior has carved a niche for itself in Saratoga Falls. White collar workers are often spotted taking refuge inside, for some peace and quiet before venturing to the corporate jungle just outside the door. There's an air of understatement about the place.
Your order finally comes, delivered by a waitress that Kim knows too well. ''There you are.'', she says with a smile and a thin layer of accent. The business is family owned and staffed by family members and friends, a rather good looking barista told Kim sometime ago. You finish the drink quickly but take more time with the panini, not that you have to make it last to keep your seat - when you get a seat in Milagro, you get the seat for a whole day - but because you're back staring at your phone, browsing through Foursquare and Facebook in a desperate last attempt to track down the elusive goth.

''Where the hell are you?'', Keith's voice rings on your ear.
''Milagro.'', you half-mumble a reply. Tired and exhausted from a whole day of stalking and driving about, you don't have the energy to snap at Keith. Your mind is also too engaged on the eventuality that will take place on Monday of bringing Jessica to confront Morgana.
''Is my new face there?'', Keith's voice perks up a little bit.
''No'', you pause, ''She's gone, I can't find her anywhere.''
There is silence on the line, ''Who's gone?''
You aren't too keen on disclosing Keith's intended place and more importantly, it doesn't matter anymore. ''Just someone.'', you mumble again, you're not keen to cause much commotion for something that's not even going to happen or maybe it's Kim talking. ''Look I'm sorry for the screw up, why don't you enjoy yourself?'', you pause for a moment. ''I'll tell Lucy or Melody to put out for you.'', the gear in your brilliant mind is moving.
''Really?'', Keith's voice is filled with excitement now.
''Or...'', you snicker.
''Or?'', Keith interjects.
''Put Michelle's mask on and Keith's mask on a golem.'', you say in hushed tone. ''Ask Blackwell to get them for you.''
''Fuck off!'', Keith swears as the implication sinks into his mind, much to your amusement and you can't help but to stifle a giggle. There's a bit of muffled voices in the background while you stab your panini rather absent-mindedly.
''Keith says you wanted me on?'', you hear Lucy's voice from the other end, sounding rather reluctant, no doubt she has been listening in the conversation.
Typical Keith you thought.

That night when you are just about to park your car in the driveway, you have half a mind to give Jessica a ring, part of it, to know what Eva is up to and another is to keep a check on Jessica. You just hope she hasn't somehow meet Morgana through some divine intervention and beat the crap out of the girl.
''Hey Jess, are you okay?'', you say when someone has picked up the line.
''Kim...'', a rather different voice answers you, but not an unfamiliar one.
''Eva?!'', you say in disbelief.
''Yeah,'' she says softly,''The doctors discharged me this afternoon, put my leg in cast and said that it might get better with time.'', there's a steadily mounting frustration in her tone. Her voice cracks and you can hear muffled sobs from the other side.
''Eva, I'm so sorry.'', you spend a few more minutes trying to console the crestfallen cheerleader, with Kim's persona, it comes smoothly and naturally. You yourself feels sorry for the girl whose cheerleading career just got ruined because of a mixed up. You spend a bit more time giving her encouragement and pep talk which is Kim's standard procedure.
''What did you want Jess for?'', Eva finally steels herself enough to speak again.
''I just wanted to check on her and you, making sure everything is fine.'', you say.
''She's... oh wait....''
''Hey Kim.'', a different voice speaks through.'' Yeah, I'm just about to go to Yumi's.'', there's a slight hesitation to her voice.''Why don't you come? Lin's going to be there.''
''Geez, I don't know.'', you tease. ''Sounds exclusive to me.''
''Don't be silly Kim.'', Jessica sighs.''I could give you a ride or you can head straight there.''
You don't really have a lot of time to think, but you figure that this is a too good of a chance to pass. You can take Jessica or Yumi or Lin and get another shot to bring Chelsea down, with Keith's help. Taking Jessica is definitely a big opportunity, capitalising on Eva's predicament, she can generate loads of support from the school, it wouldn't hurt to get her as well, if you decide to take either Lin or Yumi. Saves you a lot of hassle of having to confront Morgana as well on Monday. Those are just some of the good reason to become Jessica Garner. You can think of at least two other perfectly good reason on top of that as your mind wanders back to last night.
But you realise you might be moving too quick, maybe you should just go to the meeting and keep an open mind, nudging the three in the direction that you want them to go to, but not directly getting your hands dirty. Chelsea's bound to hold another tryout to replace the two members. It must've been all her Christmases coming together all at once, exchanging two potential rivals for two goons she can push around. Too bad, you might be gate-crashing that party of hers.
''Hello?? Kim?'', comes Jessica's voice from the other end.
''Hey, yeah, I'm sorry. Been a long day.'', you mutter an excuse. Your free hand reaching inside your purse, fishing out Keith's anima band, the letters gleam bright red, begging to be placed on someone. You make a mental note to call Kim's father before you go. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
