This choice: Swap masks? That's weird! • Go Back...Chapter #44The Cousin Consummation by: rugal b. ![Author Icon](https://images.Writing.Com/imgs/writing.com/writers/costumicons/ps-icon-regular-10.gif) "You want to switch masks?" you ask as the two of you sit in the car. To be honest it's an intriguing idea, you having Umeko's mask and all and given that she's family you can't help but to think that maybe it'd be for the best. However...
"Sure," Umeko answers. "If you want of course."
"How come?"
"I don't know," she says with trepidation, "it's just a silly idea that popped into my head. No need to overthink it."
A number of thoughts run through your head as you try to figure out why she'd suggest it though. "Is it because..." You pause and try to land on just one of them and eventually settle with the one that seems the most plausible. "Is it because you're uncomfortable with what'll probably happen when we go inside?"
"That's not," she starts with a shake of the head. "Look, I just said it was a silly idea okay? That's all."
"Sydney," you say firmly and the use of her real name causes her to look directly at you, "I'm nervous and worried too. I mean for me it's just... we might be doing things in there, you know? Things that I don't think either of us have ever done; that I've certainly never done. And K.C.? I mean forget it, the thought's never crossed her mind."
Umeko stares at you but it's not really one of incredulity or offense. It's more like she's trying to gauge what her own response should be to you as you watch her lips ever so slightly part and close as she breathes. "I guess you're right," she finally says. "Umeko knows how she feels but she's never had a girlfriend before and with someone that she's crazy over too it's a lot. Then there's me and even if I pull her over me it's still hard to wrap my head around it because I'm not... you know."
You say nothing and allow her to continue when she finds her voice again.
"Yesterday when I came over and I, you know, I kissed you? That wasn't anything I felt strongly about. That was like me teasing you and I guess it was like Umeko teasing Jelena."
"Does she not like Jelena?"
Umeko blinks. "What? No, she likes Jelena plenty! Just not like that, I guess," she admits. "She just kind of sees Jelena as K.C.'s younger sister and she kind of... I don't think she wants someone younger than her or at least someone still in high school." She offers you a sympathetic look. "So sorry about that too, Will. Even if she wasn't gay, even if you weren't her cousin, you probably still wouldn't have had a shot."
You recoil a bit but try to keep a neutral face as the fact is you're not all that surprised either. "Okay, well, if it makes you uncomfortable then we don't need to do anything."
"Will, no, we have to," she adamantly declares. "Because the stuff with Baphomet and the leylines, there's a very sexual element to it of course. We went over this, right? So if we're making this Brotherhood into a Sisterhood then," she pauses and bites her lip, "then I'm going to have to get used to being a bit sapphic."
She leans over the center console and places a hand on your cheek. "I told you that I wanted to make you happy too didn't I? I had this whole, like, heartfelt confession and everything," she smiles.
You place a hand onto her's and then grab hold of her other hand. You lean in and plant your lips onto her's. They part and soon the both of you are gently-yet-passionately probing one another's mouths with your tongues. You break only enough to suggest that you go inside. Everybody else must be out because the door's locked so once you're inside you guide Umeko back to K.C.'s room and lock the door behind you before guiding her over to the bed.
It's an awkward thing with false starts and fumbling before the two of you settle into something of a groove and yet you don't care. For you it's the best night of your life.

Early the next morning you decide to scope out what's going on at school and to get a feel for any additional members so you head into Jelena's room around when she wakes up and, having treated K.C.'s mask last night after your tryst, swap back into Jelena. At school there's some idle chatter regarding Jelena and the "new girl" being seen at the Warehouse together on Friday but it seems that with the weekend having passed so too has most interest in that and you don't plan on tossing in kindling to reignite that fire any time soon.
Besides, going through a school day as her reveals to you that Jelena's social circle casts a wide enough net that you have quite a number of possibilities for new members. Someone like Emily Sparks for instance who's button cute and well liked by most who know her (Jelena holds no romantic affection for her but does find her incredibly charming). Jelena, unsurprisingly, also takes an acting class and as she's good friends with arch-theater kid Charles Hartlein she knows plenty in that group as well as those in the various music programs that seem to all gravitate towards one another; Emily being one such example.
Her first period is a smaller class taught by Ms. Willett, a younger teacher as popular for her approachable demeanor as she is for the fact that she's quite pretty. Would someone like her make for a good recruit, you wonder?
And of course there's her closest friends and you wonder about the possibility of adding Sienna into the mix, give her to Sydney, and then... your heart skips a beat at the thought. That's all if you wanted to keep it just in Westside too because how great would someone like Christina Yves, the charismatic punk rocker from Eastman, be in this group that you're building? If you wanted to win win friends and influence people it would be hard to do better.
It's a lot for you to chew on as the last bell rings and you tell your friends that you have some things to take care of at home.

"I take it my sister had work today?" you ask as you set your things down on the love seat and flop down.
Zoe, phone in hand as she lays across from you on the couch, looks over. "Yeah, right after class. Only had enough time to get changed," she says before looking back at her phone. "Shit, I guess I need to start getting ready too. I'm working the evening shift tonight."
She makes a sour expression which you find amusing as her face seems to default to a sort of Debbie Downer look. Though in truth she's no more cynical than any number of people that Jelena knows.
"So I guess it's just us for a little bit?" you ask. You then push yourself off of the loveseat, go to stand over Zoe and once she's looked at you lean down to kiss her softly. "Want to make the best of it?" you ask after pulling away.
"What would Kay say if she found us?" she asks.
"Nothing that I wouldn't tell her to," you answer as she pulls you on top of her. You proceed to kiss and nibble at her neck for a bit as she moans and gasps and you feel her fingers dig into your back. "So you didn't have any problems today?" you ask after pulling back.
"Nothing," she answers. "I guess a night's sleep is all I really need to get what I need. Zoe's mind thinks this is really fucking weird and more than a little wrong by the way."
You can only laugh at that. "Of course it's taboo. That's what makes it fun, right?"
Zoe had gotten home last night before Umeko had to leave and so the two of you had wasted no time in getting a mask onto her and treating both it and Umeko's. It was Sydney's idea to give herself a day as Zoe and you ask her now if she's going to stick it out or switch back to Umeko tomorrow. That merely elicits a shrug from her.
"By the way," she starts as she looks up at you, "you come across any good ideas today?"
"A few if we wanted to stick to Jelena's circle," you tell her. "Chris Yves from Eastman would make a good addition. Maybe a teacher like Ms. Willett. Sienna..." You pause though as inspiration strikes. "We can actually kill two birds with one stone actually if we want to dump Kurt. Get a mask not just onto Nadine but onto Sienna and Andi as well." The last being Andrea Kramer, a Keyserling student who plays bass for Sienna's band. "Nadine can pull double duty in both bands and we'll have them under our control."
She doesn't quite bite so you throw another piece of bait out. "There's Roxanne as well if we wanted to grab some muties."
Zoe squirms herself into a sitting position. "That might be fun but I was thinking that we could look on the college grounds too. There's a girl in one of Zoe's classes that'd probably make for a good recruit for both the Sisterhood and the band."
"What does she play?"
"A couple different things," she says. "Guitar, bass, I think she does drums too. Hmm, and you know Lina right?"
"I think I've met her a few times," you reply.
"I think she's more Zoe's friend than Kay or Yell's. But she's a good hookup for a lot of people looking for weed so, you know, hearts and minds and all. Oh!" she exclaims with revelatory surprise. "There's another girl in one of Zoe's classes, Lina's roommate actually. She does some work for one of the professors. Guy gives a lot of girls the creeps but," she's practically beaming, "supposedly he's really into, like, magic and shit. Has like a fancy house with a big library and lots of weird books with names that nobody can pronounce."
You immediately follow her line of thought. Grab this girl and maybe you can use her to get in with this professor and if he's into magic like the rumors say then maybe see if you can raid his library for information on Baphomet and possibly other things too.
But you worry that something like that might be going a little fast. Just this weekend alone you've expanded the group to four members and this morning told K.C. to talk to Charlotte about the arts council performance too because you'd be doing it. Maybe you should slow it down a bit before adding more members. ![](https://images.Writing.Com/imgs/writing.com/writers/info/interactive-2.png) indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
