After everything that had happened today, Skander just sighed wearily at this new revelation. He really didn't know how to deal with this. In just one day, his whole life had been turned upside-down.
This morning his only worry had been about being late to school and now...now had to deal with all those strange new abilities. Not to mention the fact that the whole school by now probably only consisted of smoking ruins and ash.
Skander was beyond glad that nobody had gotten hurt, even though he couldn't help but wonder if he could have prevented the boy from setting off the bomb in the first place.
He should have talked to him first. He should have tried to find out what would cause someone to attempt to murder so many innocent people.
Skander shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. Getting all worked up would do no good.
Looking down to where his feet were supposed to be, he noted with rising panic that he was still invisible. His eyes widened and his breath grew faster as he realized that he had absolutely no idea how to control his powers.
He couldn't imagine living with these voices in his head for his whole life and what if he accidentally injured someone with his super-strenght?
And he definitely couldn't stay invisible his whole life.
First things first. He needed to get home and tell his parents that he was okay. They were bound to be worried after what happened. He just needed to find a way to tell them that he was invisible without shocking them too much.
Skander hurried down the streets, trying hard to ignore the thoughts of the people passing him.
He unlocked the door as quietly as possible, hoping his parents wouldn't notice anything. A door opening by itself might not be the best way to greet them.
Skander put down his bag and hesitantly made his way into the living room.
His parents were sitting huddled together on the couch, their eyes fixed intently on the TV. Just as Skander had expected, the news were filled with reports about the bomb. He was relieved to see that they didn't mention him. He had enough to deal with without the added pressure of appearing on TV.
"God, I hope he's okay."
Skander looked at his mother, who had buried her face in her husband's neck and seemed to hold back her tears.
His father was stroking her back soothingly in a circular pattern, while murmuring reassuring words in her ear.
Skander felt guilty for making them worry so much and wondered what he should do now. He couldn't just start talking, could he?
A voice from out of nowhere would surely freak them out. Maybe he should try to reverse his invisibility before doing anything else, even though he had no idea if it was going to work.
