You have your crew seated and buckled throughout the free-fall towards the new planet. Gritting your teeth in the master seat, you command computing to shutter the windows and reduce damage to the critical areas of the ship.
The rattling of the ship rattles your very body, jostling your bones and causing your stomach to jump. Falling blind, you feel and hear a sudden smash against the cockpit.
That's not normal. The ship smashed through something solid. But you have no time to check until a final jolt nearly launches you from your buckle straps. "Cut the thrusters!" You shout to engineering.
Engineering reports. "There's no need. Thrusters are gone!"
"Gone?" You try your best to calm the crew.
"Gone! Flewed the coop! The main thrusters were smashed off when we fell!"
You recall the descent. "We fell through something as we descended. Any idea what that was?"
"Maybe we should open the shutters..."
You command computing to tell the ship to open the shutters. There is no response.
"Computing core is shot. No good!"
You unstrap yourself from your seat. "I guess there's no other option. Until the core gets restored, our best option for damage reporting is physical - internal and external."
You adjust your legs to an inclined cockpit floor. "One engineer comes with me outside with a small exploratory force." As you reach for a helmet. "The rest of you spread out and report any damage to the ship. Once we know what's wrong, the sooner we can get off this rock."
Five handy-handed crew mates, one engineer, and the captain himself exit the damaged hangar bay onto the new planet...
