'Ah, good. And about the "other" you?' says the voice on the phone.
'That person will be female, I think.'
'Well, you think correctly then. This is our most popular choice, male meets female. Well, we'll start to transport you in 3... 2... 1... No-'
The voice on the line is cut off as you are suddenly thrown into a wormhole, linking the two universes together. The place itself is enough to remove all doubt from your mind. It's definitely real, you think to yourself. But what about my parents? Won't they notice I'm gone?
As if in response, a projected image on the side of the wormhole starts showing your mother coming down the stairs. It's fairly easy to deduce that this was right after the call, as the phone hangs in the air.
Huh? How could anyone have used this phone? I'm the only one here.
You recognize this as her thoughts, but not because her mouth wasn't moving. In fact, you don't know how you know. You just do.
On the screen, your mother now opens your room. Hmm. I think this guest room needs to be redecorated.
This final though before the projection stopped removed the worry from your mind. Your parents forgot they ever had a son, and you assume everyone else in your world did too.
At this point, you suddenly (read: hitting the end of the wormhole, if that's even possible) get thrown out into the alternate universe. You recognize the area around you as your backyard. You know where you are, at least.
Well, time to explore my new home. Which will probably be extremely similar to my old one.
Before you can, however, a voice behind you says, 'Who are you?'
