Finally, he comes across a small clearing. He sees a small stream passing through it. Kneeling down, he feels the water, it's cold. "Not the smartest idea, but at least it's clear, cold, and flowing", and he cups his hands and takes a few drinks from the stream.
Getting back to his feet, he suddenly hears growling directly behind him. A large blue wolf was just coming out of the forest. "A blue wolf? A new species? Or was it bred like that?", he couldn't help it, his curiosity getting the best of him. He notices it's posture. "If it's anything like the wolves I've studied, it's getting ready to pounce", he thinks, and it does. He sidesteps it, and it falls in the river. "Too predictable". It quickly turns around, but Nathan was ready. It leaps again, only to be met by a well timed kick to it's lower jaw. "Too bad, but I've studied various martial arts and I work out in my spare time, which I have lots of". It hits the ground, and Nathan is immediately on it, lifting a large rock in one hand he picked up from the stream's edge, he smashed it into the beast's head. He does this a few more times, making sure he killed it.
After confirming his kill, he starts to examine it. "What a waste, this would have made an excellent specimen. But, it is a wolf in every way. It was just larger than most wolves and had an odd colored coat. But, I can safely assume I'm not near my house anymore".
His attention is redirected behind him, he hears more movement in the direction the wolf came from.
He turns around and gets another surprise. "You killed it? Darn, I had been tracking that creature for a while now".
A girl with long brown hair and blue eyes entered the clearing. She looked to be around his age, and she had a great figure, but this is not what surprised him. Everything below her stomach, was a horse. She was a centauress, with her lower horse half a light brown color and a brown tail.
"How odd, I've never seen human clothing like that. And I don't see a weapon on you. It seems that your different from the rest of your kind....What's wrong? You've been staring at me, strangely".
He is at a loss for words. Standing before him is a living myth, something that shouldn't exist. His curiosity takes control again. He walks up to her side and puts his hand against her, it was warm, she was real.
Embarrassed, "wh-what are you doing!". "Amazing! A real centaur, I mean centauress. I never thought that they existed, or that I'd even meet one!", talking to himself, as he continues to examine her side. Still surprised, she pushes him away from her. "What is your problem! Don't touch me!".
"Huh? Oh! I'm sorry. I let my curiosity get the better of me". Still a bit upset, she realizes something. "Wait, what do you mean by saying we don't exist?".
He explains, in detail, all he knows about centaurs.
"I thought the entire world knew about us. Wait, I know as a fact that we're known. Unless, what is the name of your world?". He's confused by this. "What an odd question. Earth of course".
"But this isn't Earth. It's Rolarik. That can only mean that you came from another world! Is that legend true". He looks even more confused, "what are you talking about?". She begins to tell him.
"I always thought it was just a legend, something that people thought up to give them hope, or something like that. But with what you just told me, there is no way your from this world, and that would explain your clothing.....But as I was saying. This is Rolarik, there is a legend that says that when we're in trouble, a person from another world will come to help us. I guess that's you".
"Hmmm, you seem to be telling the truth, and I've never heard of real centaurs or blue wolves. So I guess I can believe you. So, what am I suppose to save you all from?".
"From a so called warlord. He was born with large magical powers and is able to summon massive armies using his powers. He uses these armies to overwhelm his opponents and take over one place at a time". "And I'm suppose to stop this "magic" user". "Yes". "Where is he? I must see him first before I formulate a plan". "I don't know, he is constantly on the move. You will have to ask the closest human town. Fortunately, there is one a few days from here. I can take you part of the way".
But before that, she takes the dead wolf with her, she was hunting it after all. They walk side by side, with her leading the way, all the while, he is studying her, with the occasional poke. "Would you stop that", she sounds very annoyed. "Sorry, I can't help it, I am a scientist. Right, by the way, what is your name? Mine is Nathan".
"Willow". "Oh...named after a tree". "You know that?". "I am a genius, I know a lot of things".
