The plan for more muscle began to form inside Idward's mind when, for the nth time, he’d again been unsuccessful in trying to court the sun of his life Mora Linda out for a date.
“Come on, Idward we’re two completely different types of people” she’d said nonchalantly passing on him. Then adding insult to injury she added. “Besides what with Minos say…”
Minos! Always Minos! Minos, as Idward saw him was just Mora’s current distraction. Albeit Idward harbored no ill will towards the bull. No, Minos was just another player in this game of love with Mora. But what was it that Minos had, that he didn’t? They both harbored a deep passion for the arts, were polite, and both were well kept, it didn’t take long till the obvious answer hit him, it was their physical appearances.
Mora, Idward realized, was a woman who (unfortunately for him) was the type who went more for brawn, over brains. It was true for most women in this cruel world he wistfully reminisced, remembering how no publishers would take his original romance novel featuring a less than model male lead. In response he’d churned out a trashy novel in one night, featuring the superficial and stereotypical, muscular male lead. The publishing house had bought it instantly to his dismay, and then stuck a picture of the cliché’ muscular male lion prime Fab-Leo on the front. Idward’s revulsion grew when the book sold like hot cakes, but he’d made enough from it to work on his more subjective romance novels.
Deciding to scope out the competition he headed outside to get a better perspective of what he was up against. Heading out into the cool late autumn air, Idward watched certainly impressed as Minos lifted a massive boulder blocking a future grove, and carried it a distance to a waiting pile of rocks. Idward comparatively flexed a bicep of his own, not coming within half the size of the bulls. It reminded him of how by no means was he out of shape; his body was far from muscular.
Well he would change that, he could change that instantly! Personally he’d been fine with his body; comfortable with it as it suited his wants and needs. But this was for a different reason, this was for love! And not just any love his soul-mate Mora! With an image of a perfect body in mind, he retreated to his private writing nook in the barn, brimming with an excellent plan.
“Oh my muses, I summon you” he whispered to the empty walls.
“Yes great creator, how can we serve you!” the two wisps that were the nymphs Din and Jin appeared before him.
“I have a new plan in my eternal quest for love. I’ll need a massive body one to rival that of Minos!” He explained to them.
“Right away mast-”
“No! People will get suspicious if I just show up with a brutish figure out of the blue. I don’t want to have to hypnotize them into forgetting your mischief again. We’ll take it slow, and soon Mora will have to take notice of the new body I’ll have.”
“Once again you show your genius, our master!” Din and Jin said as they unanimously cast the spell over him.
Feeling no difference other than a light tingle in his body, he headed back and out and continued the rest of his day as normal, his magical metamorphosis began.
Snow soon covered the Las Linda’s ranch and Idward’s bulky winter attire concealed his body changes from the others. Only a trained eye would notice if his shoulders had broadened a little, or that his arms looked a little larger
What was obvious was that he was around the gym more often. Every day that winter he made sure someone saw him as he left the house early in the morning in his baggy tracksuit for the gym inside of the barn. Although when he got there he went straight to his writing and let the magic take it's course naturally, always making sure the barn was empty beforehand less someone find out about his lie.
Also obvious was that his appetite was greatly increasing, along with his consumption.
“Easy Idward you’re going to blow a gasket. Did you miss lunch hun?” Taffy had said taking note of the pile up of meat and potatoes on his plate.
“No, I’m actually carbo loading. I’ve been thinking of maybe doing a little bulking up.” he said in his eccentric manner.
This caused the others at the table to scoff at his claim, playing it off as one of his odd jokes, but they would soon learn that he was serious. Perhaps as a side of effect from the nymph's spell, Idward found himself eating platefuls of food with a rapid pace due to hunger.
Weeks of this cycle passed and soon winter had ended, and springtime had finally arrived! One certain sunny day looked to be a great for tanning, and while it was a little early in the year for it, Idward decided this could be a good chance to reveal his newly formed brawny body.
Disrobing before his room’s full length mirror he saw his body was…
