Chapter #7
You get out at the address.
by: Unknown
It's a little house built maybe twenty years ago, a modest ranch with a two-car garage and desert-style landscaping. You pay the cabbie, with a reasonable tip, and check your purses as he drives off. Each of you has a keychain with a key to the front door. "This is a bit spooky," says Susi, and you agree, but you unlock the front door and go in.
At once it hits you that this is the house you share with Susi. The powder has made you from a couple of teenaged girls into a couple of twentysomething Vegas showgirls, apparently a lesbian couple though you seem both to be more bi and not averse to ensnaring rich husbands, and it's been utterly thorough. You and Susi go down a short hallway and through the door to the garage. Susi's canary-yellow Miata and your dark blue Mini Cooper are there -- not that you remembered them until that moment. "We're... we're the new us!" says Susi. "Everything's changed!"
"We don't even know where we work!" you say.
"I bet you we'll know when we have to know, Lori," she says. "We have so far, right?"
"I guess," you say. You have a look at the bedrooms. One is empty, one -- yours -- has a double bed that you know you rarely sleep in, and the master bedroom has a king-sized bed that you know that you usually share with Susi.
"We're home!" says Susi, and she seizes you and kisses you full on the mouth.
