Chapter #8

Easy come, Easy go.

Nina eased back into the gentle current, a smile on her face as she floated near the surface. Her pale yellow tail bobbing below the surface as she watched her shoulder length pigtails float upward. One dainty hand twirling the honey brown hair playfully. As carefree and happy as any Mermaid could be, at least one who had been alone for as long as she had. This was her favorite spot, right where the shallow forest river emptied into the vast swamplands. Hidden away among a reed bed, safe from hungry eyes. Not that any predator would find much of a meal in her. Though she was exceptionally pretty with her playful emerald green eyes, button nose, and full lips set in a heart shaped face; Nina was also small for her kind, petite and slender. Though what was strangest for a mermaid, were her small, if perky, breasts.

She came here every day, hoping to see another of her kind. After all, rivers, above and below ground, were Mermaid's main way of travel. It only made sense that if she waited at the mouth of one for long enough she would meet another. Sure she could go looking herself, but that was dangerous and besides, Nina liked it here. No, she'd stay right where she was she thought with a lazy smile. At least that's what she thought before she caught a flash of silver through the reeds.

Curious, she righted herself, swimming towards the edge of her hiding spot. Dainty hands parting the reeds ever so gently as he peered through, her breath catching in excitement at what she saw. Another Mermaid! Oooh she knew it was just a matter of time! And even better, she looked to be close to Nina's age, despite a chest that belonged on an older Mermaid.

Older mermaids were just so... what was the word she was looking for? Oh right, serious. They were so frightened of being eaten that they gave up everything fun, which meant they might as well be dead anyway. One older mermaid had once told Nina that was because carefree mermaids were stupid, and never lived long enough to mature. Moments before being snatched up by a well hidden eel. Nina still found the memory funny.

But even better, she was beautiful. Nina couldn't help but wiggle her backend in excitement, a beautiful friend her age. Her soon to be best friend was looking about nervously. She had the prettiest hair Nina had ever seen, silvery white with pale blue highlights that matched her wide eyes perfectly and stood out so brightly against her tan skin. Her face a work of art, elegant cheekbones, small upturned nose and rose petal lips. Heart shaped face and soft chin. Oh, Nina was already in love! She hoped she thought Nina was pretty too.

Nina really hoped she'd like her, too. She ought to - with so many who didn't, it had to be time to meet someone who did! Nina gasped as with a swish of her silvery tail her new best friend disappeared into the far banks reeds. Nina had been so busy admiring her that she forgot to reveal herself! Well she wasn't about to let their friendship end like that! With a swish of her own tail Nina was through the reeds and out in the open, hurriedly swimming towards where the other Mermaid disappeared into. When suddenly she noticed something curious. The reeds were swaying slightly, back and forth and forward and back. Nina grinned as she realized what that meant, she wasn't too late! Her bestie was still there!

Nina was just about call out when the swaying became a lot more violent, causing her to finally realize maybe something was wrong... She continued moving closer, though with care now, edging forward until she was close enough to peek through. The first thing she saw was her friend-to-be's silvery tail, swaying madly against the reeds. The second was more of what she didn't see. The Mermaid's very pretty upper half, which was currently being forced between the very stretched jaw's of a... huge, handsome guy? His long, sharp teeth scraping against the squirming, silvery scales just below her navel. Though she didn't have to look hard to find where her prettier half went, as a wriggling lump made it's way slowly down the predator's throat. The source of the muffled, girlish screams and squeals that were tickling Nina's ears.

Her eyes suddenly went wide as she saw his long grey scaled tail. A Naga! It suddenly made sense, and Nina groaned as she realized her friend was snake chow before she'd even gotten a chance to meet her. Ugh! This was just Nina's kind of luck. Though she couldn't help but perk up a little as the Naga's long tongue flickered across the silver beauties slit, earning a very different shudder from the half ingested Mer-snack. And well, it was more than a little hot when it plunged in a moment later. The silver tailed Mermaid's muffled squeals and screams momentarily changing to gasps and moans.

Still, Nina resisted the urge to let her idle hand wander. It was just too bad she couldn't listen to the one telling her to swim for her life. The Naga looked like he was done playing, his tongue sliding free and his hands grabbing tight on either side of her tail. Forcing her in as he opened his throat, too quickly for silver to react in her stupor.

The Naga's brown eyes rolling back in pleasure as her terrified squeals kicked back up inside him, the corners of his mouth curly back into a tight lipped smile around rapidly disappearing prey. It was all mesmerizing to Nina, though in a very terrifying way. It was too late now she realized to flee, her body ignoring her. Frozen in place as she hoped against hope he didn't see her and decide on seconds. She just couldn't look away, so she had to hope her stillness would hide her. So she found herself admiring the handsome Naga. She had, after all, never seen one before.

He was much broader than she had imagined Naga men, muscular. With a mop of shaggy black hair and a broad nose under his hooded eyes. Nina was pretty sure he wasn't much older than her, or the mermaid currently curling into a sobbing ball in his belly for that matter, maybe a few years or so. She wasn't really interested in guys truly, but she could still find them impressive. His fingers curled about her fluke as her forces the last bit of her between his lips, nibbling her playfully as she passed between his teeth and down his gullet. Nina's fear growing a little as his smile broadened, a hand sliding down to pat the squirming screaming bulge in his belly. At least until his eyes slid downward and focused on Nina.

He was looking right at her! Nina felt the warmth leave her as his smile turned to an annoyed frown.

You have the following choices:

1. Nina's caught!

*Noteb*
2. It's not her he's looking at...

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
