Joe began by holding her boots and sucking the heel.
"Servant!" she called to one of the guards standing next to the entance. "Bring in the next prisoner."
The two guards opened the wooden gate-like door. Another guard appeared, pushing in a skinny person with ragged clothes. He fell to the floor and got back up. Then he continued walking until he was at the steps of the throne.
"Kneel down when you're at the presence of your ruler!" the guard barked. "You are at her mercy!" He knocked the prisoner down with his staff, then bowed down. Morrigan waved her hand to the guard and he stepped a few steps back.
"Now. What is this prisoner's crime?" Morrigan commanded.
"He was caught stealing food from the kitchen." the guard answered.
"But it was for a good purpose!" the prisoner blurted out. "I have a poor family and I have to keep the food on the table! Please, all I ask for is some food!"
"Silence!" the guard yelled.
"So disrespectful." Morrigan said. "I can't have that. Do you realize what will happen if I let you loose after stealing from my kitchen? Those insolent fools you call neighbors will inevitably try the same thing. And I won't allow that to happen."
"Please! Have mercy, Your Highness!" the prisoner cried out.
"Hmph. You should've thought twice before you tried to steal. Take him away." Morrigan commanded.
The prisoner screamed and cried as he was dragged away. Joe stopped cleaning to turn and see what was happening.
"Hey! I didn't tell you to stop, did I?" Morrigan said. Joe quickly resumed cleaning her boots with his tongue.
"Bring in the next prisoner." Morrigan commanded yet again. The prisoner this time was a sophisticated man in a tuxedo. He walked to the throne casually with a calm face.
"And what is this person's crime?" Morrigan asked the guard.
"Attempted murder by use of poison, Your Highness." the guard replied.
"Hmm. Interesting. And whom was his intended target?"
"I believe it was Lilith Aensland, Your Highness."
Just then, Morrigan made a sudden change. No longer was she calm and collected. She became enraged. She kicked Joe aside and stormed to the prisoner.
"Why did you try to kill her?!" Morrigan demanded. The prisoner did not reply. Morrigan waved the guard away and slapped the prisoner in the face. He kept his face turned to the side.
"I asked you a question!" Morrigan said. "Why did you try to kill her?!"
The prisoner kept his mouth shut. Morrigan quickly grew impatient and kicked him to the ground and repeatedly stomped on the feeble man. She pulled his left hand and pinned down his right with her heel. She pressed her other foot's heel on his forehead. The prisoner moaned in agony.
"Answer me!" she demanded. But the prisoner was still silent. Morrigan pressed down harder and spit in his face.
"I said answer me!" Morrigan repeated. The prisoner couldn't take it anymore.
"I.....I. ..was hired....to kill.....her...." he managed to say.
"Hmph. I know exactly who it is." Morrigan said.
But she gave the prisoner no mercy. She placed her boot on his throat and began choking him.
Joe had been watching the whole time, but he had a different opinion on the matter.
"Master!" Joe said. "Uhh.....don't you think you're being a little harsh....?"
"Excuse me?!" the guard exclaimed. "Don't you dare question Your Highness!"
Morrigan paid no attention to Joe. He watched as the woman took away a life using only a foot. The prisoner's body stopped squirming. Morrigan gave the prisoner's neck a twist before stepping off of the body.
"Take his body and hang it outside so that all the townspeople may see what happens to those who try something like that." she commanded. Morrigan went back to sit on the throne, calm once more.
"Oh Little Joey." Morrigan called as one would call a pet. "Come here." Joe slowly crawled to the foot of the throne.
"I don't like it when people question me. So I'm going to warn you right now.Do NOT question my authority ever again. Understand?"
Joe gulped and nodded.
