Chapter #6

Go into the cave!

    by: Gildedtongue Author IconMail Icon
Starglint, with the need for more blood sprinted into the caves without care for consequence. Screaming louder as he made his way inside. Several more rats lay in waiting, dirks and short blades at the ready, nothing strong enough to block the badger lord's impressive blade.

However, the sheer bulk of the badger, coupled with the size of his blade, became a hindrance. Unable to find room to swing his blade, Starglint was forced to drop Efreeti, swinging his fists at the first few rats, knocking them against the walls. Blood poured out of his body as more nicks and slashes assailed his flesh. Each motion became harder and heavier for the mighty warrior as he fought on. The rats scampered out of range each time he tried to punch or grab.

Soon enough, the warrior felt tired, falling to his bloodied knees, his eyes wide and glassy, breath not coming to his lips. Starglint watched helplessly as the rats he was fighting parted, leaving a tall fox walking in shiny chain mail towards him. A cruel, curved blade in his hand, lifted up high. The rats cheered on their leader with deafening cries before the blade came down between Starglint's eyes, and then he saw no more.

Due to the rash and stupid actions of the Last Badger Lord Starglint, Salamandastron was without a leader, and soon, without course or direction, the Long Patrol could not continue to repel the Sea Rats' continued assaults upon the beach. The Volcanic fortress fell three seasons later, and soon the vermin conquered all of Mossflower Wood, and brought the stone Redwall Abbey to rumble.

A new era, one of The Fox, ruled over the lands with an iron fist, and the stories of the heroes faded out of memory and into the nothingness.
