Jenna wasn't very interested in anything, but her parents made her go to this doopy event. While dressed "nice" because her parents made her do so, she acted like she was smiling to the other pretty girls acting like their friend... Then slipped into the lady's room to sneak a cigarette and text on her phone to one of her real friends, another goth girl that got transferred to another school.
For a moment they bounced texts back and fourth about how bad life sucked and how bored they were while Jen smoked her cigarette she'd stolen from the volley ball coach at school and hid in her purse.
Suddenly things went wrong and this translucent wave went through the room like a ghost from a movie. Jenna's eyes went wide looking at it, then she noticed that all of the people jibbering excitedly outside had gone to nothing.
Carefully she peeped out the door and was amazed that everyone was gone already. Where did they go so fast? That science guy must have told them to go outside or something. Then she noticed that there were women's purses strewn about and draped over the backs of chairs.
"While they're gone..." Jen was going to take this chance to snake on the other women's cigarettes. Sneaking behind a partition, she kept watch for anyone coming back. Then she heard someone coming and dipped down behind the chair caddy.
"NOW my little ones, come to me willingly and I'll make this brief," the scientist guy said. "Like, who's he talking to?" Jen asked herself barely peeping from behind the folding chair caddy to see the guy playing with the carpet. And talking to the carpet.
