Robert ignored Sticks and kept cutting, Sticks had always been a hanger on, like an annoying younger brother. Nearly 6' 3 but barely weighing 150, he had never fit in with Rob's close circle of jocks. Still, he had been a customer and occasional drinking buddy for years, Sticks was good for laughs, from time to time and being single and not good with the ladies, he was always available. Rob was 15 years older, happily married with two grown sons and quite popular with his group of buds from high school. Also, Sticks made Rob look superior whenever he was around. Rob wasn't tall (only 5'9) but he had always been muscular with dark wavy hair and brilliant blue eyes, At 55, his hair was showing some gray and his muscles weren't so firm but he still liked what he saw in the mirror. Nelllie , his high school sweetheart still treated him like the football star he was when they met. He was still much mor man than Sticks would ever be,
Still, Sticks words reached their mark. Robert was getting fat. He had denied it for the past few years but he knew that he had started to bulge over the 38 inch jeans.
"Shut your mouth Leon." Robert and Sticks had a relationship more like a father and son than buds. When Robert called him Leon, that meant that this was a serious conversation- not joking around. "I may have put on a pound or two but I'm not a twenty year old and I don't hanker to be a Stringbean like yourself. I confess to enjoying a good meal from time to time and I may be a bit heftier than I used to be but don't worry about me being able to cut your hair for being a fatass. Not going to happen. And, by the way you could use some weight on you. you look darn unhealthy. Tell your mother she needs to feed you better," (Sticks , at age 41 was still living with his mother.)
Robert paused to shake the hair from the towell on Stick's shoulders. "Why don't you meet me and the boys for breakfast sometime? Might do you good."
