Chapter #3

Time for a Quick Spell

    by: Unknown
Stacy noticed that Amanda appeared to be saying something, but couldn't quite figure out what it was.         "I'm sorry, I didn't get that." Stacy commented, as she noticed Amanda appeaqred to be reading from some little book.        "Oh, that's normal, it always seems to start this way."        "What starts what way?"        "Oh nothing really, just a little present for you...it's something I do for all of my clients."        "What kind of present? Can I have it right now?"        "My, but you are anxious. Though, don't you worry your pretty little head, You'll have it soon enough. Now, we're heading to pick up a few things you'll...I mean... I'll... need for the week."        "Sounds great, and can we...I know this might sound a little strange...but could we...," she stammered, wondering why she found herself saying this.        "Go ahead sweetie, what is it?"        "Well, could we play some cards, or bingo this evening?"        "Things are working out perfectly," Amanda whispered.        "Did you say something dear," she replied, wondering why she called her dear...that was something her mother did to her...come to think of it...her grams used it even more...and was it her imagaination, or did her voice sound different too?"         "Oh, it's nothing. Are you ready to head out?"         "Sure, let me get my sweater, don't want to catch a chill...you must think it's silly...person my age worrying about such things."         "Not at all, I think it is a very mature thing to think about."         "Well, what a nice young lady you are...I mean...,"she pondered, considering if she had meant to say that. For some reason it didn't seem quite right, but why it had come out that way eluded her.          As she went to get up, she found her vision slightly fuzzy, and her body felt...different...though she couldn't help but think this might not be such a great thing.         "Let me help you," she told Stacy, as they headed out the door. She placed the sweater over Stacy's shoulders, and they wandered past the hallway mirror and out the door. Even with her vision a bit fuzzy, the 45 year old Stacy could not help but notice that something seemed different about her hair. What was it though? Could it be that white streak in her bangs, or the gray hairs laced throughout? Why did that bother her?"        "Is something wrong?" Amanda said smiling.        "No, I...uhh...I guess not...just a few pesky gray hairs...and that touch of white...maybe pick up some hair color while were out."        "Sure thing, though you really don't need it. Makes you look...sophisticated, yeah...sophisticated. Now lets get going...not going to get any younger just standing here."         Besides, Amanda knew that she needed to get Stacy a few things to help her before too much longer.
