Baltimore, Maryland, USA, sometime after June 1962. The cool kids from the local high school spend their afternoons dancing on the Corney Collins Show, where only a select few are allowed to dance. Usually those are trim, however the recently arrived "pleasantly plump" Tracy Turnblad has shown that you can be fat and still be smooth on the dance floor. How has her arrival changed things for the local men?
