Jamie was on the couch watching T. V munching on some chips. Outside it was snowing but inside it was nice and warm with a big fire burning in the fire place.
"Mom i have a date!" Marissa yelled against Brooke. "I'm going to the movie!"
"Then ask you little sister if she likes coming with you."
"Come on we're not even real sisters we're adopted!"
Jamie closed her eyes. Marissa and her mothers were fighting a lot lately. Part because Marissa thought she was old enough to live on her own and wanted to make her own decisions and her mothers still thought she was't ready for that. But by telling that they were't sisters Marissa really crossed the line. She was right of course that they were all adopted but they lived so long together like a real family and every one of them felt like if the others were family and Brooke and Carrie wanted that they treat each other like family.
Brooke looked at her oldest daughter with anger in her eyes. Jamie who had looked at them over the back of the couch slowly slid down.
"You're not going any were today young lady."
"I'm twenty years old. You can't tell me what i can do and can't do!"
"I sure can!"
But Marissa ran out before Brooke could stop her. Brooke sighed and went back to work in the kitchen.
"We won't see her tonight." Brooke mumbled.
Jamie focused her attention to the T.V again. Jade walked in.
"Was that Marissa who walked out?" Jade asked.
"It was." Jamie answered without looking up from the T.V.
"You're still looking those stupid cartoons. those are for kids." Jade said while she looked at the cartoon her sister was watching.
"Well i and Zoey just like those cartoons. They're funny."
"Sure! Pfff." Jade said while she blew some of her hair out her eyes.
Jamie finished the bag of chips and threw the empty bag in the garbage bin. Jade walked over to her and rubbed her sisters belly.
"Oh i think i feel some fat here is starting to come."
"Come on i'm not fat. I'm skinny. Mom always said i need to gain some weight."
Jade looked back at her sister. Jamie was a real toothpick girl and was happy with it. Other girls did everything to become slim and were starving themselves while Jamie stayed the same size without even trying.
"She does't anything to stay slim. I wonder. If she would become fat would she try to lose it? Or would she still be happy with it like now?"
