With the new shrinking technologies also come in addition comes social reforms also for prisons as well, and huge changes to their laws as well to make sure that order can be maintained. They have made laws now that any crime can be subjective to punishment using the shrinking technology that was provided. There laws can be pretty draconian if you are not careful as crimes can risk you losing your jobs, status, etc... but in this world you can lose your chance to become big or even normal. Anyone caught doing any crime that is serious like fraud, murder, etc is not only sentence to prison time... but they will be shrunken down to the smallest size and place in special prisons made for them. Simple put, don’t commit any crimes or you will be shrunk to the smallest size. Smaller crimes they are given three chances with the “3 strikes” limit, but break that and it is prison life. The length of the sentence is still at least relative to the crime, and if you serve it you can go back to society reformed and ready to struggle finding any work, but that is if you make it out alive.
They call these prisons the “The Downsize Hive” and you absolutely don’t want to be sent to one of their prisons, as it’s truly life or death, first of all they are run by people who would be to them hundreds of feet tall. They actually run the prison (mostly all woman) and there you lose your rights and is subjected to slavery, and what they do to the prisoners of Downsize Hive can truly vary, but it is all horrific. There is so many things messed up with this prison that you would need to write for yourselves just to think of the full horrors that prison can unleash, also... it’s either underground or on an island, and they even have reportedly arrested children and sent them to that prison as well, and even some of the normal size people have children who play with the prisoners, and its male and female so no segregation of sex as well.
