Jearis and Kirlan walked into town. Their mother gave them money to go to the local market to buy bread and fruit. Jearis stayed close to his younger brother at all times, protecting him. There were a couple of incidents when Kirlan was by himself in town, that he was bullied by kids older than him. Kearis didn't know who the kids were, but he knew he would make them pay when he saw them.
At the market, the brothers wasted no time in buying the bread and fruit. Right before they left, a man beckoned them over to his table. Kirlan's eyes quickly ran over all of the objects displayed on the table in front of the stranger.
"Hello boys. Interested in magical object? For example, this one," the man said, holding up what looked to be a kalidescope, "this object can see through any illusion or disguise". The man looked through it and pointed it at Jearis.
"Human, obviously," he said. Jearis snorted.
"Come on Kirlan, this guy is just a waste of time". But before he could lead Kirlan out, the man gasped, looking through the object towards Kirlan. He dropped it on the table and gasped.
"Boy, where are you taking this...this demon". Jearis snapped. He quickly slapped the man.
"Don't you ever call my little brother that again! You do and it'll be the last thing you ever do".
Jearlis quickly grabbed Kirlans hand and went to lead his brother out of the market. But before he could, the man grabbed some powder and threw it at Kirlan.
"You think i'm lying boy? Just you wait and you'll see". The man quickly grabbed his objects on the table and ran off. Jearlis gently led his brother back home, wondering what the man was talking about.
Miro quickly ran away from the market, scared of what he had just seen. That little boy....no, not a little boy, a demon. He knew he had to keep an eye on the family. That powder would take years to work, but when it did, the boys human disguise would fall, little by little. he knew the eyes were the first to change and if they did change, Miro knew he had to save the family before the demon killed them.
