"Lisa!" you scream at her, "that unicorn means to eat you, to swallow you whole! Come on! Let's get out of here!"
You grab the startled girl and start pulling her away.
"What are you doing?" she protests. "I want to see the unicorn some more!"
The unicorn dips her horn toward you and says, "So, you thought to betray me after I spared your life. Do you remember what I told you would happen if you betrayed me?"
Your legs are frozen. You can't move. The unicorn has an angry expression and is stamping her right front hoof.
"I'm sorry," you say, "I didn't want you to eat her. I didn't want you to eat me. Listen! What if you let her go and I get you some nice vegetables from the market--some carrots, apples and pears? I can bring them to you!"
"Your offer sounds intriguing," says the unicorn. "But I know I can't trust you. So I will keep the girl here until you return with the food. If you don't return, I will take her to my house in the forest and eat her."
"I will surely return," you assure the unicorn. "Just don't harm her! She's innocent. And you would surely regret eating a person. I don't know what humans did to you before for your to hate us so much, but I know this girl could never have harmed any of you. You have the reputation of being beautiful creatures that heal rather than hurt. I promise to return right after school lets out. Please meet me right here!"
"All right," she replies. "But I won't wait forever. If you're not back by sundown, this girl will be my dinner. And I will continue to prey upon any humans that wander into my forest!"
"Just give me a chance," you reply. "I will keep my word. Will you promise to not eat either of us if I bring you food?"
"You have my word of honor," she replies. "A unicorn never lies."
"Thanks," you say. "Now I will ride the bus back to school and then return with my car and the groceries I promised you."
