Chapter #3Outside the forest. by: Unknown When I wake up, I'm outside the stupid forest. I hear Mrs. Green yelling at me to back away, saying we're going to be eating lunch. I stand up on wobbly legs and wander over to the class.I hate field trips, I think to myself.
“What happened? Did you see a unicorn?” asks a very annoying third grader with red pigtails that remind me of pennants as she takes a bite of her PB&J sandwich. “No,” The word fall from my mouth before I register it. She pouts and waddles back to her midget, unicorn-obssessed friends.
The lies, they come so easy that I don't realize I'm lying until a few minutes after it. I take a bite of a potato chip, leaning back on my hands as I tilt my face up towards the sky as I chew, feeling the warm sunlight beat down on my skin. Hello? Can you hear me? a soft but strong male voice asks. I don't really register it so I reply.Yeah A loud exhale as a breeze ruffles my hair. I can hear the smirk in the guy's voice. Good, good, the empathy link worked! he purrs in my brain.
Quick question, Unicorn Dude. What's an empathy link? I ask as I pause to take a sip of my Monster energy drink. It's a mental connection between two people, the voice explains as I shove my empty potato chip bag into the bottom of my backpack. Three boys I haven't noticed pop up.
“You look fine—” the jock one starts.
“—for a girl—” the brunette pretty boy intercepts.
“—who got tapped by a unicorn.” The third finishes with a soft blush. I turn away as I cram my Monster can into my backpack, blushing despite my attempts not to. “Well, I didn't get tapped in any way.” I snap sharply as Jock looks me up and down with a wild grin.
“A hot babe like you?” he says with a smug look. “With a unicorn dude?” Pretty Boy giggles. “If you don't shut up, my foot's gonna make sure you don't ever have babies,” I threaten as i glance over at the third boy. “Well, aren't you gonna say something too?” I sigh with my hands on my hips.
He's tall and muscular but in a lean, sleek sort of way, reminding me of the unicorn.
“No, not really,” he says in a soft, yet clear voice. He looks up at me with wide eyes the color of a baby seal's and shakes his head. His hair is snow white and covers one eye. His skin is snow white too and he's dressed head to toe in navy blue. Navy blue shirt with long sleeves, navy blue jeans, and navy blue sneakers.
“Go ahead say something, Snow White,” I growl. “The name is Mistro,” he rumbles back deeply. Don't make me mad, Human, the voice growls in my head. I turn, slapping my hands to my cheeks and crouch down. “Weird emo girl,” Jock jokes as someone lays a hand on my back. “Don't touch her,” snaps another voice, Mistro. I start to breathe in and out quickly, feeling dizzy and overwhelmed. “Calm down,” Mistro's smooth, angelic face appears and I blush.
“I'm fine,” I lie, feeling my body shake and his warm hands close around mine. I stumble, flushing when I land against his chest. “S-sorry,” “Don't be. You're overwhelmed,” he responds as he smooths my hair. I close my eyes and fall asleep like a rock sinks in water—fast. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
