Chapter #14

Run for your life!

    by: Unknown
As you wait anxiously for Supergirl to come to a decision, you turn your eyes to her boots, the two things that brought you from an overeager fan to an overused foot rag. You see her lean on the ball of her foot and shuffle her foot, hinting at the worst.

"Y-you want me to fight you?! B-b-but you're Supergirl!" you yelped in fear.
"Fight you?" she reacted. "Don't be silly. I wouldn't dream of hurting a defenseless little puppy like you."
Your masculinity took a hit from that quip of hers. Just because you were smothered by the feet of someone who could bench-press a tractor with one hand, doesn't make you any less of a man, right? Not that she saw it the same way.
"No, I'm going to give you a chance. It's only fair, and I'm a fair minded lady." You sneered a little at that last comment.

"You want to leave so badly? I'll give you the chance to." She puts her hand on your shoulder and leads you to the balcony. "You're currently on the third floor of this shopping mall, and the front door is only a few turns away once you reach the bottom." You observe the mall from the highest floor as she points out.
"We're going to play a little game of cat and mouse. I'm going to give you a thirty second head start. If you can make it out of the mall's front doors before I catch you, then you're free to go."
Thirty seconds?! She can run faster than a speeding bullet, even faster if she tried! What's the point of a head start at all? Your thoughts were interrupted by her rounding off her rules.
"If I catch you, or if I see you cheating, you'll be personally accompanying me and my feet for the rest of this tour."

This is completely unfair, you thought. You objected as soon as she finished.
"This is ridiculous! I won't even make it to the first floor in thirty seconds, let alone get out! This isn't fair at all!"
"If I were you, I'd be spending my thirty seconds making a mad dash towards the exit, not bickering about it. Although, if I were really you, I'd be honored to massage the feet of the great and beautiful Supergirl. But I digress." On that note, she released her grip on your shoulder. You looked her square in the eyes, noticed she was serious, and took that as a cue to get running. You pinpointed the position of the second hand of your watch as you set off, running for your life.

You started sprinting down the halls of the top floor towards the nearest escalator. It was quiet on the highest floor, all the fans who got Supergirl's autograph would've moved on to other floors by now. Shame, since that meant no-one saw Supergirl manhandling you seconds before. No chance of using her exploitations as a way to discredit her, and even so, would you really want to do that to your hero? Even if she has spent the last few hours mashing your face against her soles. Galloping down the first escalator, you thought going down a floor was easy enough, but the crowds started to build up as you were getting nearer to the exit. Eight seconds gone.

Ducking and weaving through the increasing crowds proved troublesome and took up more time than you had hoped. You picked up a few words from close by conversations. They were mostly about Supergirl. You didn't want to stick around to hear, but a few comments irked you. Supergirl is the nicest girl around? An role model of benevolence? Not if they had to live through what you did, you thought to yourself. It made your blood boil and your feet slam down on the floor beneath you with each step, but it diverted your attention enough to leave you colliding into a couple of people just short of the escalator to the next floor down. You weren't going to stay still to listen to their angry rants, your freedom was on the line!

You made it to the last escalator, and checked your watch. Only four seconds remaining? You looked up to the third floor balcony and saw her eyeing you. You couldn't make out her expression, but you knew she was enjoying this. You quickly glimpsed ahead to see where you were going, and turned your head again to look back up. She was gone. Looking back at your watch, the thirty seconds had gone. But if you could make it out of the mall before she got to you, you'd be free! Free to never have to look at her arrogant dominating self again! Except during some alone time, perhaps. Before you had the chance to snap yourself out of wandering into lustful fantasies, a familiar voice rang out.

"Long time no see, sweetie." You looked for that voice behind you. It was Supergirl! The cheater super sped down to the bottom floor with no trouble at all! She could've easily stopped right in front you and sealed your fate in an instant. She was toying with you, staying just a few meters behind. You were close to the exit though. Just a turn of the corner and you'll be following the windows to the front door. You forced yourself to run faster than you had ever run before.

Turning the corner, you knew Supergirl would have lost sight of you for a moment. Looking to your left, you could see the outside from the giant glass windows, you were nearly there! Up ahead were some more crowds. You know that if she's toying with you, she's most likely going to catch you right at the end, just when you're about to be free. You could make a beeline for the front door and have to navigate through the crowds, but Supergirl might grab you at the last moment! Alternatively, if you dive through the windows, she will never get the chance to stop you right in front of the doors.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Run for the door

2. Dive through the window

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
