Chapter #3

Robots.

Renamon and Guilmon had barely taken ten steps into the city when they heard a loud buzzing noise, as if a swarm of bees was nearby. This was not the case though, as in the distance they spotted a group of flying metallic objects headed their way. Just when Renamon was getting ready to run, the objects began to slow and approached them before stopping just five feet away.

They were robots, that was clear, but they didn't look to be Digimon of any kind. Bronze in color, they had an oblong torso that extended up from a small glowing plate that seemed to give them the ability to hover. The backs of their hands seemed rounded as well, added to the wide brimmed dome shape on top of their heads, it could be presumed that the robots could curl up into a tight ball for easy storage. Their eyes were an emotionless blue that glowed with no visible signs of intelligence.

The robots attempted to speak, or so Renamon and Guilmon could only guess, as the noise they made sounded like a pack of wolves drowning in pudding. After a moment of silence the robots tried again, this time sounding like a robotic cat destroying a orchestra pit full of harps.

"What do they want from us?" Guilmon asked Renamon as he tried to withstand the noise.

A moment later the noise ceased and the Robots spoke in perfect English this time. "Welcome home masters." it said in a voice that seemed to almost have emotion, but not quite. "We trust your journey has been rewarding."

Guilmon and Renamon looked at eachother in confusion.

"Please come," the robot continued, "Your quarters have been prepared and cleaned to perfection."

With the group of half a dozen robots surrounding them now, Renamon shrugged and started walking with Guilmon close behind. No matter the pace it seemed, the robots stayed the same distance ahead or behind them. Eventually, as they pushed deeper into the city, they came to the tallest building in the exact center. The lead robot extended one of it's fingers into a key-like slot and the doors opened.

Upon entering, both Digimon could that lobby, if that's what it was, was sparsely decorated with a large metallic desk along one wall and several metal chairs on the other. The creepy thing was everything was almost too perfect. As the Robots continued to lead them to some sort of elevator, both Renamon and Guilmon wondered what sort of wird place they had discovered.
