You stare at the large beach. It would take more than an hour to reach the thin forest of palm trees on the other side of the beach. You look up at the sky, shielding your eyes from the sun with your hand. It would be noon by then, you realize. You need to make it to the trees, or the sun would scorch you to cinders! You look to the ocean from whence you came. Why not try to swim? You bet you could make it to the rocks a bit away from the island by noon. There are some small holes in the rock deep enough for a tiny person to shelter in. Then you glance at the sand below your feet. You could burrow yourself in the sand to keep cool. Some desert animals did it, why can't you?
