Chapter #3

Arrival at the City Hall.

The woman turned and opened her mouth to talk but upon seeing Lisa immediately spun back, facing away. Lisa was a bit taken back by the lack of an answer, what was her problem? She wanted to keep a low profile until she could nail down a good interview so she thought it best not to annoy the woman and wait to be dropped off at the town hall...

The ride seemed a bit long but it was still enjoyable, a good site seeing trip as a matter of fact. The town hall was in the dead center of the richest, most opulent part of South Barkalow. Towering mansions and five star restaurants clad the sidewalks of this well-groomed section of town. Huge and happy citizens populated the clean sidewalks and waddled about. A very rich part of town indeed.

The sight-seeing tour was cut short as the buss driver called from the front over the bus's loud speakers, "City Hall, passengers awaiting City Hall step out now please." The bus halted and Lisa stood to get out of her seat, a few others did as well. Among them two business men seated in the back and the rude woman in front of Lisa who ignored her at the start of the bus ride. Lisa waited a few extra seconds waiting for the woman to get to her feet, waddle down the bus and to the door, then a few more as she stepped down the stairs.

Lisa figured she better get used to waiting behind people if she planned to stay long in this town.

The two business men parted going separate ways as they departed the bus but the woman walked straight through side by side with Lisa up to the steps of city hall. They didn't make eye contact and the woman still seemed a bit upset, distant from Lisa.

The young lady grunted loudly as she pulled her self up the long stairs muttering something under her breath. They walked in at the same time, bumping hips, Lisa was squished up against the door briefly getting the wind knocked out of her.
